Actually there is one thing I am worried about. The certificate of admission mentions that I am admitted until Agust 2015. Worse, they sent with the package a document about the changes in semesters and terms of research. Yet it never clearly mentions that it goes from 2 years to 5 months, nor whether this is meant for MEXT applications. In any case, I contacted the int'l student office section and I have yet to receive an answer. I am guessing that they offer admission for that period and then you can extent it upward to two years...I hope so because in 5 months, I could barely finish the 6 month language classes. Anyone has any idea?
I am surprised you were contacted about student housing already. Their documents told me the email would come in January.

Monbukagakusho Research Scholarship (2013-2014) Prep. Guide? eBook - GraduateInJapan.com why this one has to be payable T^T and it's so expensive i can't afford it even if i get the chance to pay for it but it also seems really good WHAT DO I DO??? T_T
I can resolve your worries! The international relations advisor in my department said that it's U Tokyo policy to issue research scholarships for 6 months at a time. They said I can renew it for up to 2 years depending on how long my research lasts. Now, when they see how bad a scholar I am they might want to deny that, but that's 6 months to try and prove myself..

Thanks so much for this! Indeed I ended up receiving a confirmation by the Int'l Student Office that the term of research can be extended for up to 2 years.
@BD2K15: Why the Kashiwa Campus? Is your advisor located there? According the the email I received, it is more than 2 hours away from the Komaba Campus!!!
Congratz to all those who also received their confirmation. I am too excited for words to live so close to Shibuya for one year...though I hope the next year will be a lucky one when it comes to finding cheap accomodations in Tokyo!
See you guys there in few months! ^^
Hi,
Congrats on your confirmation. Yeah my adviser is in Kashiwa, Which campus will you be going and will you be staying in dormitory?
For my part, I will be staying at the Komaba International Lodge, near the Komaba Campus! I couldnt be happier about the single rooms and how convenient the location of the building is overall. I hope you'll enjoy Kashiwa!!
Yeah the facilities are indeed awesome. If you don't mind can you share which department are you going in Komaba. For my part I applied for bioscience.
That sounds fascinating! I'm also doing a humanities scholarship (religious studies), and I'll be at the Komaba dorm since my department is at Hongo. Let's chat about Japanese history! And read a lot of books, hopefully...That explains why you're at that other campus!! I am at the Area Studies Department, where I'll be researching Japanese colonial law in Korea in the 1910s and 1920s. So humanities~ lots of reading and headaches ahead haha
I received the same email from Tokyo Tech (my 2nd choice)...my Embassy said it does not relate to final confirmation though. Now i'm even more nervous... as of me, i had only received an email to confirm on my graduate school and professor from Titech and the same as you - didn't mention anything about passing the final screening.
Hello. I am also going to Kyushu University, to Ito Campus. ☺are there any other people that got accepted into kyushu uni, ito campus ?
Hey everyone. I have just received an email from Nagoya University regarding the dormitories. Nagoya was my third choice and I have not received any email from the consulate or even any universitiy besides Nagoya. Even with the email received it does not say that I am accepted but only ask if I want to stay at the dorm so does this mean I am accepted at least by Nagoya but is still awaiting the official confirmation of acceptance to be sent later on? Should I send an email asking Nagoya if I am officially accepted?

The professor at my 3rd choice university said that MEXT has not even contacted him/them yet, so I doubt I will hear any good news very soon... :-/
