I don't think is a good idea to contact neither the university nor any of the professors since both the embassy and MEXT as well on the application guidelines said it was prohibited :/ Waiting is killing me but I've been waiting the hole year lol I prefer to be patient and see what happens in January.

The next would be the placement of university, MEXT will place us to our first choice and goes down the preferences list if the previous does not accept us. The final results should be announced by no later than the end of february ( Just my speculation). By the way, congratulations to you for have succeeded in reaching this stage, by now, we should expect the chances of going to Japan about 70~90%. We, in Malaysia, are currently still waiting for the final results as you do, let's all pray that we will be able to be in Japan on 2015. ^_^

Firstly, Happy New Year guys! I hope that 2015 will be the best year to all of you, by going to Japan.
Furthermore, I bring news. The Consulate has just called me saying I was placed in Tsukuba Uni by the MEXT, but the final letter will arrive only late jan/ early feb. I asked if this means 100% for me, and she said yes. She also said that the university will contact me around the same time.
I'm kinda confused by the early response, I wasn't expecting this, but so happy lol.

After lerking at this forum for few weeks under a different pseudonyme (I supposedly can't log in with facecook anymore because of a problem in the app...), and stressing out about the final results, an email arrived today, the 26, from the International Student Section at the University of Tokyo (my profesor is affiliated with the Area Studies Department). It was very simple and brief:
Dear Mr. XXX,
We hope this email finds you well.
We have just mailed Certificate of Admission and the documents
about enrollment procedure to you by Express Mail Service(EMS).
The tracking number of the package is EFXXXXXXXXX.
You can trace the package on the following website:
Confirmation of EMS mail - Japan Post
For your information, we send a copy of the EMS label to you
as a PDF attachment.
Best regards,

I am thriller to finally have to stop wondering whether I'll be in Tokyo or Nagoya, this is by far the best Christmas present I have received this year! Too grateful for words. I hope everyone else get their final confirmation very soon!

I have applied to the graduate school of international culture and communication studies. The professor who accepted me previously authorised for me to have his email, so I thought that maybe it would be okay to contact him. But yeah, just need to be patient! Thanks

Congratulations! In case any other U Tokyo applicants are freaking out... I haven't been formally accepted yet, but have already been offered student housing, so I think they are still in the midst of processing.
BTW, will you be accepting their student housing? I think I will just to meet other MEXT scholars...

So they emailed you about housing but the school itself didn't send you the certificate of admission?

Worse, they sent with the package a document about the changes in semesters and terms of research. Yet it never clearly mentions that it goes from 2 years to 5 months, nor whether this is meant for MEXT applications. In any case, I contacted the int'l student office section and I have yet to receive an answer. I am guessing that they offer admission for that period and then you can extent it upward to two years...I hope so because in 5 months, I could barely finish the 6 month language classes. Anyone has any idea?
