I think that application is for your government's department for higher learning. And no lol that's actually the first time I've seen that on an embassies website. I don't think that application affects MEXT's decision.

Hi, any Malaysian that apply the mext postgraduate scholarship here? Have you guys got the notification for exam? I still not getting any notice ... I applied last year also and that time I got the email in mid April. Oh no. I got bad feeling.

The deadline in Vancouver is June 1st, and the examinations and interviews are sometime in 'late june / early july' lol.
It seems like the undergrad scholarship isn't that popular here, they get only 1 or 2 applicants a year
But none have been selected in the past 5 years, makes you wonder... haha

So for an undergrad in Human & Social sciences, do we have to sit the math exam for all topics (course 2) or just a select (course 1)? And does anybody know how the interview goes, what kind of questions will be asked (is it in english :s lol)?

Math (A), Japanese, and English tests.
You have to choice of doing the interview in Japanese or English.

vanek, do you that there are 2 applicants in Canada or Vancouver? because that's very few. last year, here were 8 undergrad applicants, 3 got recommended but none got the scholarship and it's been too years that nobody got undergrad scholarship here. I envy you that you have so much time to study, it's 5 weeks left here till exams and i'll have one more math exam on June 6th :/

oh, and I have a question, i won't be able to get the documents in English so i'll have to translate them, do you think it's allright if i do that myself? and since you need one original and one copy, i wonder if the copy would be of translated version or original document? what do you think? i've emailed the embassy but it's weekend now lol

last year in Turkey there were 2 applicants for undergraduate scholarship 1 won but rejected the scholarship........

in consulate they said health certificate is needed for application and i have to submit it before recommendation.

in consulate they said i cant translate them myself. i have to pay a lot of money to translators and notary..they want all the translated documents to be notarized too.

mutsuhito , they really said that the documents have to be translated by professional and SIGNED by him? because if it's not signed by translator, i don't really get why it must be translated by pro. and i suppose the notary doesn't require the documents he/she attests to be translated by translator. wow, so confusing

They said all the translated documents and copys should be attested by notary. I dont know how thats going to happen. But there is another option. Faculty of foreign languages can translate them too and that doesnt need notary. Just the translators sign will be enough that way.And it could be different in your country so its best to wait till monday i think..

In Vancouver, there are like 4 consulates in Canada so I would estimate like 10-15 applicants from Canada each year. The scholarship isn't really all that popular over here haha. Each Consulate is responsible for forwarding applicants to Japan, so in the last 5 years no one from the Vancouver Consulate has been accepted
The engrish wording on the math exams is really bad, they even end some questions with a period?!?

I'm reading old posts about scholarship and I'm getting more and more questions. Anybody has troubles with filling in the papers? And I don't really get the thing with envelopes and recommendation. How many recommendations do they need?????

You need one recommendation, tell the person your getting it from to make a photocopy of it.

thanks vanek. by the way, what did you write in 12th question in application form? I don't really get what they ask here

and one more (not very important question lol): did you put the recommendation into A4 format envelope?

For number 12 I talked about what I put for my first choice, and why I wanted to study that subject in Japan instead of somewhere else; (I put Law so I talked about how rigid and well-structed the legal system was in Japan etc.etc)
No I just put it in a normal sized envelope, I plan to put everything (the application, recommendation envelope, health etc.) all together into an A4.
I'm handing in my application on Monday

And yea both copies into one envelope,sealed, and signed

you don't need to hurry since your deadline is June 1st, but yeah, i guess you'll feel better when handed application in btw, in application form you have to paste your photo with your name on reverse. did you paste it? i mean, if you paste, then what's the point of writing your name on reverse. and where you put the third photo?

tests in Malaysia are so early?
well, English is the easiest one, but sometimes there are difficult exercises, e.g. to notice which sentence is incorrect
