Making a Documentary about Japanese Horror

Hi,

I'm going to Japan this august for a month, in that time I plan to make a short documentary about horror films in Japan for my final year project at Uni. I will be looking at such things as the link these films have to history and culture, more specifically the old ghost stories about Yokai and Yurei. Before moving on to other things such as horror based on Manga, horror based around current fears ectﾂ…

I was wondering if anyone had any interesting references or info on this subject, I would be really interested to find someone who is a specialised critic of Japanese horror. Either based in the UK or in Japan, ideally I would love to interview someone with this kind o knowledge. And ideally I would love to interview a Japanese horror director, although I know this is probably just a dream.

Are there any big horrors coming out during august, with any kind of big showing? Any big horror events?
