Hey all.

I am looking for good Japanese techno, dance, and/or club music. No J-pop like Ayumi Hamasaki or anything please, although 'Butterfly' is a good song I am not into her style.

Try Schwarz Stein. It has quite a dark flavour but it's damn good.

I don't think there is any real such thing as "J-Techno", the way that people call music Jpop & Jrock... Japan has always had a fondness for techno purists such as Jeff Mills & Derick May, but what gets exported out of Japan isn't as well known... Ken Ishii comes to mind...

I know that some techno producers and talent have been discussed before on Metropolis, you might root around there:

Best record store in NL for techno (if anyone finds themselves there): Clone, in Rotterdam.

check Shinichi Atobe (not sure how many releases he's done)

Satoshie Tomie has always been a key figure in Dance/Electronic music. He played keyboards on 'Tears' by Frankie Knuckles - one of the most moving house tunes ever (with Robert Owens on vocals.)

Takako Minekawa dabbles in electronic stuff, but not really Techno.
