I think you could easily do level 5 this coming November with just a wee bit of preparation.
 
I failed N2 again, and this time it's both reading and listening since I pretty much slacked off. I think I'll take a break from it for a while and improve my reading speed and vocabulary before taking it again.
 
Congratulations! One thing I did that helped my speaking overall was to talk to myself and sing songs actually. The biggest thing is my girlfriend taking time everyday to help me articulate myself better in Japanese when conversing. I'm sure you'll pass N1 when you sit for it. Let me know how it goes!

Hope they work better for you than for me. I find missing context before and after to be a problem for me with flash cards, so I don't use them. Just reading and writing my own diaries is what seems to work for me.
 
I'm currently in the middle of studying N4. Is it too much to hope to take N1 in July after 2 years? Is it okay that if I skip right to N1, or shall I better try other ones first? How much does it take to pass N1?

I passed N4 In dec 2013 and passed N2 in July 2015. This was with proper Japanese classes at my university. If you are studying by yourself I think it would take you a bit longer to get to that level, but that depends on how you study and everything. I suggest aim for N2 first, and not N1. Not saying that N1 is not important or anything, but you cover loads of grammar topics and everything till N2. After that its just mugging up kanjis and refining your reading skills. Thats just my opinion I recommend taking all the levels, or atleast to attempt N2 before jumping to N1. You get used to the exam pattern and you also get the certificates which make you feel nice and give a sense of achievement xD (Idk what I'm going to do with my N5 certificate, but the score, I managed a 180/180,made me feel better about my choice to study Japanese at the time)

Writing diaries is a great idea! i'l try that out too! Thanks (i'l probably give up after a day or two, lazy)
 
Today I learnt there's JLPT Administrative Committee in Baku, Azerbaijan, this December. I'm going to go to the embassy tomorrow and apply for N4. It's really cheap (unlike IELTS, not that I've taken it) and much closer than going to Astrakhan, Russia. I have taken any JLPT before, I hope I'll finish learning N4 by the exam day.

*It is first JLPT examination this December in Baku.
