I don't know too much about Japanese food, but from Japanese drama, I found the Jpanese hotpot is similar(in my opinion, identical) to the Korean.

So... can anyone give me some information about Japanese hotpot?

Thanks a lot.

Chinese hotpot

that looks like a chinese hot pot actually... is there a difference?

I wonder if japanese hotpot means, kimuchi nabe?

It's called "Nabe ryoori" 窶堙遺?堙冷?堙ィ窶堙・窶堋、窶堙ィツ in Japanese.
It is similar to Korean hot pot, but the soup is different.
There are many different kind of Nabe ryoori, though.
I love it.
It's easy to prepare. No cooking, really.
And tasty!
Nice in winter.

Soup and Sauce

So... what kind of soup do you use and is there any extra thing you put into soup?
In addtion, for Nabe ryoori, do you use any sauce?

Thanks

The best known Japanese one pot dish is probably sukiyaki which is usually cooked in a big donabe casserole dish right on the table in front of you, has beef, char broiled tofu, Japanese long onion and other vegetables. There are oden, yudoufu, shabu-shabu and mizutaki which are pretty common; kimuchi-nabe has become very popular in Japan as well.

The stock for most of the dishes is water flavored by konbu(kelp). The dipping sauces are used also.

What are some of the favorite dishes in Japan, all Mild please I can not eat spicy foods.

For making soup, you always need bonito stock! This is a "must-have" in every Japanese kitchen!!
