Japanese Co-workers and superiors

おはようございます。
Hello everyone I have recently started working for a Japanese automotive company in England and most of my superiors and co-workers in the office are Japanese.

Although they are all very proficient at speaking the English language I would like to communicate with them in their native tongue more often.

But as I am new to the language (knowing hiragana characters and most pleasantries e.g. hello, how are you? Etc...) I would like to tell them that I am still learning and although I am slow at the moment I am determined.... or something along those lines

Do you think I should just tell them in English or should I give it a bash in Japanese (にほご) if the latter what should I say?

First of all, this would be just a typo but Japanese is にほんご, not にほご.
How about to say it in English first, and then in Japanese; すこしずつですが、いまにほんごをべんきょうちゅうです.
