Am going to Japan in May and would like to ask, are the electrically appliances in japan alot cheaper then here in the UK and the US? For example I want to buy a Sony NW-E99 Network Walkman 1Gb and would like to know how much cheaper would this product be?

don't be counting on a low price ;) electronics are also very expensive in Japan...some things are cheaper tho, bought me a Canon Digital Ixy 40/50 for \26500 almost half of the price in belgium !!! ☝

Konnichiwa TAPION-san!

Sony NW-E99 is about 26,000YEN in Japan. 🙂

NANGI

I get better deals off Ebay than from Japan.. some things are cheaper but overall its no less than 5% less.

Do you know how much a Sony PSP and a Nintendo DS cost in japan?

PSP is 25,199YEN for the most low price.
It is price 25,370YEN in a neighborhood of my house.
Nintendo DS is most low price 14,060YEN.

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Hiroyuki Nagashima again."
but i am still saying thanks!!! and much props! peace

You can go the route of extreme bargaining, by visiting the shops around Akihabara, then go to Shinjuku and compare prices with Yodobashi or some other firms, and try to pit one with the other.....although this tactic is pretty well worn now, so it may be best to find out when the big gomi (garbage) day is and see what the J folks dumped that's still usable....those items are usually free (though not guaranteed...) :D

den4-san is right. 👍
We check a price in Shinjuku.
There are many cases that shop of Shinjuku is cheaper from a shop of Akihabara
As for the used goods or the old thing of a model, Akihabara is cheap.
I use a point card.
By my translation software, explanation of a point card is difficult. 😌
I ask for explanation somebody. :sorry:

I experienced the point cards in yodobashi and other shops, so I'll try to explain :) , it's like this : u got a pointcard, when u buy something u get points...After a while u got enough so if u're buying something u can use ur points to get a discount ! 🙂

Where is this Shinjuku and Akihabara, are they in Japan and if so are they quite close to each other? Any good cheap but good electrical stores in Osaka?

You wanna go to the Arabs for that, like a holiday to Abu Dubai, all region, all format DVD player for about ツ≫??0? You bet!

When you get to Shinjuku, look for or ask for directions to get to Yodobashi Camera, since there are so many exits there, you can get turned around and around and really lose your sense of direction.... :?
When I first went there, for the first time, over 18 years ago, before it's current renovation and redesign, I got so lost that it took me an hour to find my way out of the train station! :D
And then it was only to find out that I got out at the wrong exit :D
Needless to say, it took me a few hours to find my bearings and get a clear understanding of where was what and the like...now I only get lost trying to figure out where things once used to be....or where they moved to...so the moral of the story is ask ask ask...don't be shy....the friendly J-person won't bite your head off if you ask for directions.... :D
And don't be a dumb "guy" who "thinks" he knows where he is going...although most areas are now written with good engrish, so you shouldn't have that much trouble these days.....
darn! I miss eating the eki-mae sobas....I could use a kitsune udon right about now :D

I believe so, but then, as my motto says, what do I know? :D
