Tech Japan Display develops first 2 Vision Display system for cars

One screen, two different displays:

Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has unveiled a groundbreaking car dashboard display capable of displaying different images simultaneously from varying angles. The innovative "2 Vision Display" allows the driver to view navigation information while the passenger enjoys a TV program on the same screen. This technology utilizes advanced image processing and a touch panel to identify the user, setting a new standard for in-car displays. Unlike previous multi-screen attempts that suffered from poor visibility in sunlight, JDI's display ensures optimal performance under various lighting conditions.

As automated driving becomes more widespread, how people spend time in their cars is expected to change. The industry is also experiencing an increase in consumer demand for in-vehicle displays. Against this backdrop, JDI said it aims to achieve sales of 100 billion yen ($682.2 million) in 2030 for products using this new technology.

It's not really a first, unless they mean it's their first of this type. As it mentions, this technology has been around -- for at least 15 years I think. But it never made it into cars or if it did, on a very limited basis, mainly because of cost I think. It's good if the performance is better but it won't get much traction if they can't make it cheap.
