So... in Europe we kiss two times on the cheeks when meeting or leaving. Or we hug. Of course only men-women.

How about this procedure with J-Girls? Because of the "no body contact" thing at Japan...

My experience...

I think it varies from person to person.

My pen pal was fairly shy about anything like this - I don't think she quite knew what to do when I gave her a hug, when I said goodbye at the airport.

On the other hand, I met up with some people in Shibuya one night, and when I left, the girl who was with us kissed me on both cheeks - continental style.
Maybe she was just more used to this sort of thing than my pen pal, or just not as shy...who knows

hmm...it's not that common in Japan, sometimes girls together maybe yeah...but didn't even saw bf/gf kiss or anything, my friend said that's not appropriate in Japan ☝

thats funny i see open displays of affection all the time in japan, including one time when i saw a girl giving her boyfriend a blowjob in his cars at the toys r us parking lot here in nara. maybe its not so common for strangers to kiss each other as a greeting but its the same in canada. as for hugging, when i met my 40 something year old friend here in japan, the second day we went to kyoto , we took a picture and he went to put his arm around me for it, but i thought japanese didnt do that..so i look like an *** in the picture hahaha. i think it all depends on the person. the morales of Japanese youth are very different from what society would like it to be.

whahaha Blowjob :D...I saw some pics of that situation on the internet a while ago..but it was in the car ;-).Yeah on a picture ok..they seem to get more lax in those things these days (wich I'm grateful for btw)...but in the public places like trains, subways I don't think it's common to see people hugging eachother, kissing etc. I had to introduce the hugging to my friend when I went to Japan visiting her ^_^' , even her dad gave me a hug after she told him it's common between friends where I live :P

The Good Ol Days ?

I remember it being quite common in the small towns to see teens(Same Sex Couples) out of high school holding hands and even dancing togeather. I think kids who grew up togeather and went to school togeather became very close friends. It took me a while to get used to some of my young Japanese guy friends sitting down next to me and putting their arm on my shoulders. A few wanted to share my bed when they stayed at my apartment but I would tell them that space was for my girlfriends, LOL. There was nothing sexual about it all, just close friendship in their minds.

I live in a small rural city here in Japan and the closeness between guys is what frank is talking about, they even are that comfortable with me. When I first got here, sometimes they would slap me on the bum (which apparently some guys do if they think you are funny) they eased off a little now but at first I was like "why on earth are you slapping my butt????" even my teacher did it one time and i was like "dude do that in the U.S. or Australia and you would have a serious law suite on your hands"
