Indian people in Japan?

First off, I do not mean to offend, generalize or stereotype anyone here. However, I have frequently heard people say that Indian people and other colored people are looked down upon by the majority of Japanese people. I am Indian, and I was previously interested in visiting and perhaps staying for a lengthy time in Japan, but because of these people's assertions, I am now having second thoughts.
I'm not sure why the Japanese would look down upon people from the country which they once called Tenjiku (Heaven on Earth) and which gave them Buddhism, where Radhabinod Pal, the only jurist or the WWII crimes trial on the entire jury who found the Japanese not guilty[/URL]was from, and one of the three countries in the world with whom Japan has a security pact, so I am assuming that this is for the most part untrue anti-Japanese propaganda. Am I correct?

When I lived in Japan, I met two Indian women. One of them was a coworker, and she never once mentioned anything about being looked down upon. The other was Miss India or someone like that, who stayed at the hotel I was working in at the time. The only thing remotely "bad" that anyone ever said about her was that her room smelt funny--which was because it had smells from India, which are different from smells in Japan. I think it was from some food she had brought. However, that had nothing to do with her race or nationality in the strict sense.
