we live in this stupid townhouse, he hates the damn guy living next to us, so he put his hi-fi in his bedroom, and turn it on at night to disturb the sleep of that damn guy, and he now sleeps in the basement, which is the room that i used to play my guitars in [now i have th put all my guitars and amps in my tiny little bedroom]

okay so he turns on his hi-fi for a few hours at night and few hours in the noon to afternoon, not very loud, but loud enough that the music goes to my room and disturb MY sleep

now the neighbour returns the favor by playing loud electronic music, and they put the hi-fi in their son's room, and there is only a wall between his room and my room, at times they turn the music so loud that the walls of my room shakes

so now, both my father and my neighbour's music disturbs my sleep, drives me crazy

I've asked my father to stop doing this, and stop this stupid 'war',
as it disturbs my sleep, and hes like getting pissed and told me 'then don't sleep!'

what the....!!!!
damn, STOP this stupid war man, I WANT SOME SLEEP!!!!

I also want my room in the basement back , my father should move back to his own bedroom, now I don't even have a damn place to play guitar

I hate these stupid 'neighbour wars', I can imagine being caught in the middle of one an infuriating situation. Write a letter to your neighbours saying you will forced to inform the police if the noise goes on past 11PM (Thats the UK law for residential areas), but MAKE SURE you let them know you've told your dad the same so they don't feel unfairly blamed, yup, I want you to threaten you dad too. :D

My neighbours like to (for some strange reason) bash the walls in so hard that a wine glass fell out of out cabinet and smashed. They deny doing it, so I guess it's just the ghost in my house?! I have a wall seperating me from the neighbours in my bedroom too and their son likes to bring his gf over sometimes....overnight.
I have heard noises that I never want to hear again.....

hehe speaking of hi-fi's...

me and my cousin were at my grandparents the other day and they have a vinyl player on top of their old hi-fi. So what did me and my cousin do? We found my old
he-man story book vinyl and some elvis vinyls and did some turn table mixing baby!!!!!!
we had the best time! and made some pretty cool sounds! lol its so funny hearing skeletors high pitched voice repeating something like "chains of responsibility" 3 or 4 times in a row lol

i talked about this to him last time and he was all angry AT ME
and he shouted AT ME for telling him that I am annoyed by all this...

Wow, do people really do that to annoy each other?
I thought that only happened on TV.
Or if one party gets really **ssed, I thought the police would be summoned to mediate the conflict.

I suspect they are now mutually attuned; that is hating it at first, but now enjoying the war of rocking walls.
Reminds me of Joshua and the walls of Jericho!
Maybe they're competing for divine blessing?
They ought to realize that there's only one wall to come down.
No winner, all losers.
Did you try talking to the preacher?

Poor you, if you have to bear with that night after night! :sorry:

theres no preacher in my hood

the man living next door, he hates me too, one time i heard some car's noise so i kinda looked out from the window to see if its my father coming back, and instead it was the man, he stared at me and horned at me like 'what are you looking at?'
this family living next to my home does not have a good reputation around this neighbourhood.

i might go crazy if this continues, some nights/ mornings i get awaken by the damn music

Can you give it a try?

Well, you don't sound like you're whining at all.
About the preacher, I'm glad there is one around you.
......
Edit: Sorry, made an obvious misread!

wait, what was I talking about?
theres no preacher in my hood
sorry about the confusion
i was actually talking about the man living next door who bombards me with loud music, he hates me too

The popular REVENGE CD from France might help you in this case.

In fact there is a CD sold in a store on Queen Street, Toronto, made specially for the purpose of getting back to neighbour.

As seen in New York Magazine's Best Bets Daily.

A great way to get back at those noisy neighbors! Give them a taste of their own medicine with any one of these 20 ear-splitting sound effect tracks. Anyone who's ever lived in an apartment will really appreciate this hilarious CD. Earplugs supplied for your listening pleasure. Imported from France.

Tracks include: 1) Drill; 2) Party (At Least 200 People); 3) Orgasm (Outstanding); 4) Train; 5) Drum (Played by a Child); 6) Inhuman Screams; 7) Walking (High Heels); 8) Domestic Squabble; 9) Doors Banging; 10) Bowling; 11) Unhappy Dog; 12) Practicing Scales (Violin); 13) Traffic Jam; 14) Garbage Truck; 15) Newborn; 16) Phone Ringing; 17) Ball Game; 18) Pigeons; 19) Spring Cleaning; and 20) ****-a-Doodle-Doo!
You can order it from this link Web Page Under Construction, but currently it is sold out.

Man, there are a lot of people in this world actually have the time and money to waste on a revenge.

Wow, if you don't mind me saying so, this seems to be a little immature? It also doesn't seem to be helping. In fact, it seems to be making the situation worse.

Huh? Is he really going to order it?!

No, I don't mind, your majesty.

After all , it is just for laughs. Dreamtime doesn't really expect us to stop this "war", does he? Who really lives?

Anyway, time to watch CNBC and then head down to my favourite Japanese restaurant.

Au revoir, tout le monde!

ya man , the whole thing is just STUPID

Can I suggest the OBVIOUS solution? You are 19...you can move out and get your own place! Of course that requires more effort than just complaining...but it fixes your problem!

I agree with pretty eyes , this is kinda immature. :p

But I don't know about moving out. From some other threads it appears like you have a tough situation in your family. But they are still your family man , all families stink.

Try to convince your father of how stupid this is. If it doesn't work , try speaking to the neighbours' son so he'd speak to his father (for sure this guy has a problem with this too)

if all fails , arrange a meeting between the 2 sides and try to work something out .

I'm amazed no one's called the cops on BOTH parties! I sure as hell would've if I lived there. This is beyond childish and goes right to ridiculous. This requires some serious mediating before things go from immature to deadly serious.

This is the sort of situation that could eventually lead to violence. Trust me, this isn't just alarmist talk, I live in the inner city where kids were shot for throwing snowballs at people. Someone gotta assume the role of adult and end this nonsense.

How very pleasant it was to scroll down and find I wasn't the only one who had the same reaction. I grew up believing that if a fellow is out of high school and has reached the age of 18, it's time to be out the door and on one's own.

ah, ..to those who suggested me to move out

i want to, but i can't, at this moment

i am in a Chinese family, sons have certain responsibilities for the family, soon i have to get a job to support my family, so i can't just move out like that.

I respect your point.
There is a difference between being childish and being responsible.
It must be difficult when two different values and cultures meet and even clash at times.
So is it working towards a truce now?

some western people might wonder why Chinese teens who are 18+ still lives with their family,
not that we don't want to move out, it is that we CAN'T
we have responsibilities for our families

i don't think theres any chance of truce right now, but my father is spending more time outside so it is more quiet now, atleast the neighbor don't play loud music at night for these couple of days

I think it's awesome. The West has too long been ruled by reason, logic, compromise and what not, is time to mix things up a little bit, make things exiting, my neighboorhood is soooo boring, damm i try to lighten it up by blastin my stereo around 8-9 whilst i get ready for school, but i think what ur pops is doin is awesome, damm break those walls, break the nerves of that stupid neighbor, if it was up 2 me it put all my speakers, pc speakers, stereo, tv, against that wall and blast that crazy balkan music with those insane beats that are prolly very annoying to weterners. THere must be a hierarchy in the neighboorhod, we can't all just get along fine now can we, well hope u guys win ;)

Responsibility is usually a two-way street. What obligations does the father (or head of household) in a Chinese family have toward the other members?
