Was watching the protests outside the Republican convention. I couldnt tell exactly, but I think they were protesting Bush himself.
Letting the world know that not all Americans believe in Bush....You know what is odd? I thought the world already knew.
It seems people underestimate the foresight of the world. They seem to presume that other peoples think American politics is synonymous with American citizens. The opening ceremonies of the Olympics told me, at least, that this isnt the case.
Remember the standing ovation American atheletes got? It seemed like it was an obvious sign that they accept us as citizens. As people. If memory serves me well, I think Greece was one of the many countries that doesnt agree with American politics. Yet they were able to applaud us with such enthusiasm. Seemed to me that they could tell the difference between decent folk, and dirty politicians.
So if the protestors cause is to inform the world that we as people dont agree, and the world already knows, then what point is there? Just by watching, I got to thinking a lot of things.
Where are their jobs? Are they working? So many people seem to be unemployed.
Where are their clothes? Do they have them? So many people seem to be lacking money for clothing.
Where is their mic and spokesperson? So many people seem to lack leadership and aim.
I remember back when protests werent just protests, but rallies. Rally for a cause. And the rally often had a leader. A spokesperson. Someone, a single voice, to speak for the people to the oppressor.
Nowadays, it seems to be just a shanty of jobless, cloth-less people who seem to enjoy partying too much.
None of them like Bush. Okay. How many like Kerry? With all the hatred to Bush I saw, I didnt see any pro-Kerry types. It seems they are just hating to hate.
I thought for a second. Instead of causing such a needless fuss at the Republican con, why not organise a pro-Kerry rally, rather than protest, to push up the opposition at the Democratic convention?
It reminds me of the mindset of complaining without correcting.
People will be all for hating a person, hating a reason, hating a cause, but neglect to supply a counter-solution. "I hate Bush! I hate Bush!"
Okay...who do you like?
So much energy focused on what we dont like, and not enough focused on what we do. Instead of damning anyone, why not promote what it is we want/need as a people. And if you have to damn someone, then doesnt it make sense to give solutions, and counter-actions?
