This study only seems to show something about how we choose either (a)potential partners, or (b) partners for sex.
A lot of people seem to say that they go by looks when choosing a partner initially, which is fairly obvious and natural I think, since this is pretty much the only information we have available to us before we actually talk. I think it would be hard to argue that appearance (including BMI, clothes, cleanliness, manners, gestures, body movement etc.) don't say something about a persons character. If it does, then why not use this initial source of information?
