I liked The Last Samurai much more than Costner's movie, which was too long with some few unnecessary scenes....

Yeah....it was really sad indeed !!!I agree with you all on Ken Watanabe. He's a GREAT actor and definitely should have won an Oscar for his work. The movie really would have BOMBED if Watanabe hadn't been in it....
Katsumoto's son's death was really a very tragic one. I was upset to see him die ;_;

i also didnt like the ending but it was still an awsome movie, and i to bought the soundtrack...hans zimmer did a excellent job, if last samurai were to actually of won an award i would say the music for sure...poor poor ken wantanabe, damn americans and your movie awards...goggles said:I didn't like the "remember who/what you are and what you should and always stand for" ending. Humour wasn't really necessary, in fact, I didn't Billy Conolly and that fat geezer but I thought the Bob thing was funny. Good movie I'd say but not the ending. I liked the soundtrack as well so I got it
Hiroyuki and Tom drawed in a mock sword fight.

Ken Wantanabe had nothing to lose, he was nominated in the first place. It was Hiroyuki Sanada!

Onigiri Chan said:I doubt Tom Cruise speaks that much Japanese to be quite honest...I suspect that it's all forgotten by now.
I was watching a show about the making of the movie, and they had a long interview with Tom Cruise. Apparently he doesn't understand how to pronounce a single Japanese word -.-

That's why I hate when movies made in japan with american actors/resses who don't even bother to know or care for the language they will be useing in a movie. Bah.
