I Am A Woman, Ask Me Almost Anything

I don't think mike cash was intentionally trying to piss you off with using the male pronoun. It seems more like a habit to me. Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to remember in english that the male pronouns are the default when it comes to personal pronouns. You can use the gender neutural ones if you really don't want to offend someone. But it makes it sound as if there may be more than one person. I personally default to he, him, his and other male pronouns myself.

I have the same feeling about personal pronouns myself. Getting the surgery to change your gender shows a bigger level of dedication to who you are gender wise. More so than taking hormones in my opinion. You can stop taking the hormones, but once you do the surgery there is no turning back. I don't know you personally so I am not going to say how dedicated you are. I would think that if you think about yourself as a woman. Surgery wouldn't be mutilating yourself it would be correcting what was wrong in the first place.

Mike Cash was doing it intentionally and has been doing so since he first responded to this thread. It's a Mike Cash thing, shoving his unimportant opinion down others throats and berating them until they concede or simply back off. It's actually a thing, because we've bumped heads before. The outpouring of people telling me that they support me is enough to say that it's just a few ignorant people being jerks about something extremely simple, that being that I am a woman, please refer to me with female pronouns or :getout: That's just about all there is to this argument. <3

See. This is no different from an abortion argument. You want to thrust your opinion of the matter onto someone to whom you have no right to demand such things of. What I do with my bits and pieces is my business. Wanting sexual reassignment surgery has no basis on whether or not I am a woman. It's a simple matter of someone wanting to thrust their opinion on the matter onto me and demanding I respect it, which is a big nope. My dedication to be transgender? I've been trans since the day I was thrust into this world. I am here right now, in this place in time, in the situation I am in, to learn self-esteem and to laugh at people who would tell me what's what in my life. I am also here to show y'all how gender is not a meager biological truth.

Our lives are not our own. We pluck strings and our strings are plucked. We touch everyone around us. Perhaps this is a nod to myself to remove myself from communities that are stuck thinking they have any right to tell me that my gender identity is wrong or hangs on whether or not I pursue risky(like, good chance of death, complete lack of sensation down there, and so on). I'm three months into my HRT and there have already been permanent changes to my body. This is something I've needed to do for eight years. I've never felt more whole in my life. I posted this here because I wanted to tell my friends here about me becoming a happier person than I've ever been before, a more whole person than I've ever been before.

Maybe this is my cue to leave. I can no longer stand classism, racism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, or discriminatory behaviors that are internalized in both Eastern and Western cultures. That's not the life I'm going to live anymore. I'm going to live a life where I'm happy. That's what this is about. Me being happy, not you being satisfied that I am congruent with your view of what a woman is. I hope this helped!

Boys have penises. Girls have vaginas. Pick which team you want to play for and wear the uniform.

Oh most enlightened Mike Cash, please speak to me of the difference between biological sex and gender identity. Also, please write an essay on gender roles in Eastern, Middle Eastern, and Western societies and how they're so very much contrary to what you are jibbering about right now.

I have to say that no male in their 20s is comfortable with their testosterone levels. It's a natural process for them to decrease significantly in their 30s lesser so throughout their life. Of course you would feel more at ease with yourself by decreasing your testosterone. I don't see what changing gender has to do with it.

You realize that women after 60 have increased levels of testosterone right? Men after 60 have increased levels of estrogen.

On a side note, I find it funny that they have "Low T" commercials for older men that don't quite feel themselves, but there is no "Low E" for men that are a-holes.

I guess I need to ask a question: Why would you make such a drastic change when your body and hormones were not stable yet? You might have been happy with who you became naturally after 30.

I am glad you compared gender with clothing all by yourself. I am reminded of a quote from "Cleopatra": "Its hard to tell the rank of a naked general."

Gender is more complicated that the things we tell our pre-schoolers.

Its also more complicated than the binary choices beaurocratic pinheads offer us on their little forms we have to fill out.

The way you're looking at this is entirely wrong, BrianLewis. I assure you that gender dysphoria does not go away. Would you have me repress myself further so that 26 more years pass and I transition at age 50? See, that's the kind of thinking that really messed the transgender community up, it's created broader gaps between generations of trans people than any other group in society Instead of a decade or two of nuances? It's more like a century's worth of difference. It's extremely fractured. Did you know that trans people had to act according to a therapist's view on their respective gender identity's role in society? Trans women had to like men. Trans men had to like women. This goes hand in hand with society's past view on homosexuality being a mental disorder. Just as gender dysphoria was once gender identity disorder and a mental disorder. Guess what? it's not anymore. I'm not mentally disordered. I'm not mentally disabled, or mentally ill. I am of sound mind and body.

I've felt this way my entire life. It's not like I decided to hop on HRT three months ago on a goddamn whim. You presume it's just a simple matter concerning my physical body. It's quite a bit more complicated than that. I can't think of a set number of months in the past decade where I've felt as whole and sane as I do now. I'm happy. I posted this here so people could ask me questions about the transgender community and so that perhaps some of the people I've known the longest in my life could y'know, be happy for me. I guess I was wrong in regards to that. I'll post more later when I'm not so upset with the reaction I've gotten, which is, for the record, nothing more than smug jerks thrusting nonsensical and irrelevant biological truths in my face. <3 :/

Simply asking how you could trust your own hormones to form a decent opinion. I know plenty of straight individuals that are at place in their own bodies that have made wrong decisions based on a time in their life when they were hormonally imbalanced. How are you to know that your testosterone levels were not too low to begin with, thus making you feel like a woman inside? If that were true, would you not be treating a disorder by complicating it? You say you like women correct? Maybe you were in need of testosterone therapy, not estrogen. The reason I bring this up is because I want to know if your doctor ever brought it up. I have seen so many doctors that have allowed their own practice and personal statistics to cloud their mind before considering the needs of their patients.

Brian, you're late to the party. Although he wishes nobody remembered it now our first treat to Thor's Public Sexuality was his declaration of being in love with a guy.

I think that a certain amount of existentialism can be personally liberating. But I start to get confused when people refer to themselves as ideas rather than reality.

I haven't been interested in Japan for a long time, so, you know, I came here for the community and there is none unless it fits an extremely narrow view of our world. So, yeah, I'm gone.

Thanks for being a transphobic piece of crap, Mike Cash. I thought that such didn't suit you, but perhaps it's actually a perfect fit? Which is entirely too bad for me. TTYL!

And thanks for ignoring every supportive comment I have made, going all the way back to your first teen admission of loving another guy, right up through this thread, and the very supportive PM which I sent you and you never acknowledged. You choose to embrace victimhood and every victim needs an oppressive ogre, so you decided I was going to be yours and the actual facts be damned.

I am not "transphobic"; I don't give a damn what you choose to do with your gender/sexuality. But your rights don't extend to infringing upon mine by attempting to force PC-speak on me. If you weren't so congenitally snarky and snotty I would have made an effort to meet you halfway and use whatever gender pronoun you wish, as a matter of simple individual common courtesy. But you've had your *** on your shoulders gunning for me throughout so courtesy is right out the window and now I'd refer to you with male pronouns if for no other reason than to p!ss you off. Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.

I am in no way transphobic, but I would use the pronoun of the native gender until that person is fully living as the other gender. That means, passing in public as that new gender, and in the case of a web forum, not talking about their native genitals. I don't know Thor, but all this thread has established is that he is a man, who feels like a woman. I know I, as a biological man, would not need to proclaim my gender with a thread.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck in passing in the future, Thor.

Since phobia means "fear" then it would require that those in question. I can't say I've ever feared any transgender or homosexual person. I have rolled my eyes from time to time, but I am not sure there is any Greek word for "prone to rolling eyes".

"I haven't been interested in Japan for a long time. . . ."

Then perhaps a different forum would suit you better.

I think ignoring my humble request for you to use feminine pronouns with me was the straw that broke the camel's back, Mike Cash. I'm not a dog. I don't have to pander to your crap. It's not politically correct to refer to someone as the gender they identify with. I've already established a difference between biological sex and gender identity that you could have run with to save some troll face, but you opted to do otherwise. You do understand the concept of a backhanded compliment, do you not? Rough to use it within these parameters, but I think it applies just enough to get how I feel about your supportive PM. "I support you, lolz, but like you're such a dude". Nonsense and insincere crap.

And hey! Let's say this reply gets my point across, should you be lauded for meeting the basic requirements of a human being? You know, giving someone the most basic right they deserve as a human being? You know, having their identity respected? You like being Mike Cash, don't you? Would you like that being ripped from you and told to be someone completely different from who you are in a community you love beyond all reason, a community that is obviously unable to reciprocate those feelings back at you? I know I'm not the best person in the world, but I've thrown myself at my problems and worked them out. I've reached understandings with people on this board that I initially did not think possible. I wanted to contribute again and perhaps reignite my love for Japanese culture, but not at the expense of my goddamn self-respect. I fully expected you to be supportive and at least use the proper, feminine pronouns with me. It's a big thing.

I'm actually passing very well offline, thank you. Most trans people opt against living completely as their respective gender until they pass and I've done the same thing. Hormones do only so much and over such a period of time that they're trivial to respecting me as a human being and my identity. I came, posted this, and was going to have my handle/forum username changed to something that fit me better. But it's like, this is upsetting, nahadef. You've only been a member for such a short time. I've spent countless hours on this forum, laughing, getting angry, being annoyed, and generally having a good time. I love this community. I wanted to share who I really was with this community instead of burying it in my past as I have so much else. I've been here for eight years! Eight years! Requesting that my FRIENDS refer to me with feminine pronouns is not a huge request. Maybe some people didn't like what I was doing but supported me in this because it made me happy as a human being? That would have been okay. It's not up to you to decide whether or not my identity should be respected. It should be respected because it's a basic human right.

See, trans people have these things sometimes, should someone who comes out to their family but argues with them over the horrible stuff they say be denied their identity because they argued and established that their biological sex is "male" despite their gender identity being that of a woman? No, of course not. They should have their identity respected.

Since phobia means "fear" then it would require that those in question. I can't say I've ever feared any transgender or homosexual person. I have rolled my eyes from time to time, but I am not sure there is any Greek word for "prone to rolling eyes".

Transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, these phobias extend far beyond their original fear of definition. Most extend to hate now too. Or just simply not respecting people. Let's use it in order. Transphobic means you are being hateful, and in some ways fearful of trans people. Homophobic means you are being hateful if not fearful of homosexual people. Xenophobia. Yeah. This is a good example to use on the forum considering it's for all things Japan, is being hateful or fearful towards foreigners, immigrants, and different cultures coming into your own.

"I haven't been interested in Japan for a long time. . . ."

Then perhaps a different forum would suit you better.

What does one do to reignite her interest in a subject that was enthralled her? Oh yes, surround herself in discussion of it, see new examples of what that culture is doing, how it's growing, and that sort of jazz. Does this make sense to you?

And you should respect other people's point of view. I'm not bashing you, I'm letting you know my honest opinion. You should respect that.
It's not a basic right to have people call you as you wish to be called. I would give you equal rights, I would hire you for a job if you were qualified, and I would stick up for you if you were being harassed. But I feel no obligation to refer to a person with a penis as a she. For the record, I've been to Thailand and hung out with ladyboys who I would refer to as she. But it's a case by case thing.

ask me almost anything

Forgive me if this has already been asked, and I mean no disrespect. I am genuinely curious:
Why choose the handle "Thor"? I mean, Thor is the Thunder God. He's one of the most manly characters ever known to the world.

Don't get arrested !

You can look like a raving beauty with 38 inch breasts and long silky hair , beautiful clothes and high heels. They check, if you still have a penis, you are classed as male and go into the male population. If you are lucky , you may get special segregation , but it will not be in the female area of the jail.

Uncle Frank

:(

Transphobic means you are being hateful, and in some ways fearful of trans people.
I guess that would be the case if I had any fear or hate regarding the matter. And when you mean that the definitions have changed, are you talking about popular media?

Or just simply not respecting people.
That would be "disrespectful." To not tolerate some people would be "intolerant." Those are all common use words and I don't see them disappearing into "phobia" this or "phobia" that any time soon.

Here's an honest question (with a lengthy preface):

When I came back to America after being in Japan for several years, I most honestly felt more comfortable around asian people than white people although I am white. It's been a few years now, and the truth is, I still feel more comfortable around asian people than white people. I have a hard time relating to a lot of Americans simply because we have had different experiences, and I don't like reporting my race, as I don't feel culturally "white", whatever that may mean.

However, I was born and remain white. Even if I did identify as culturally asian (which I do not), I would still be white. I could chose to get surgery to look asian (or at least I assume I could), but it wouldn't change the fact that I really am white.

Why then is gender different? Why not just accept that you were born a man and live life as you see fit anyway?

I mean, in the end what really matters is WHO you are and not WHAT you are, right?

A good friend of mine is transgender. She had surgery from male to female when she was 19. She's more than double that age now. I never knew her as a man. Maybe that makes this easier, but I am convinced she has really been a woman all her life.
There are distinct differences between the male and female brain, and I can only assume something went wrong biologically. She told me once that she couldn't identify with her fellow boys when she was about four years old.

She visited my parents once, and they never even noticed. But some people do, and when I walk next to her in public, even I get some "looks" just for "associating" with her. We both pretend not to notice, but I know she feels very strongly about being rejected by society. Some people can't cope with the very idea of the existence of transgender people. Heck, even my gf feels very uneasy when I talk about her, and she's just the sweetest.

I know she wouldn't be very keen on posting her story on a webboard, to put it lightly. So this is a brave thing for you to do.

Thank you very much, Wardibald. I really, really appreciate the injection of positivity into this thread. I kinda just hoped my friends would share in my joy over this, but I'm kinda getting the opposite reaction. I told my friends that these people would support me, you know? Coming out to groups of people as trans tends to be a thing for trans people especially for communities you were apart of previously.

I'm kinda done with this community though. Between Uncle Frank ignorantly citing archaic prison policies and another member inferring that inmates would happily rape me regardless of my gender? It's like, wow.

nahadef: I respect people's viewpoints until they are harmful to me. Human rights and all that. You're entitled to have opinions and viewpoints, but I'm entitled to a quality of life outside of being someone's minority to hate.

alecgraham: I joined this forum in 2004. Ok? No use changing it now since I'm getting out of dodge city.

Seriously! Chaps! You inferred that I would be raped in some ridiculous and unnecessary prison sentence scenario? Y'all a bunch of creepy wastrels. I'm done with this nonsense.

My viewpoint is in no way harmful to you, and you thinking you are some minority that I hate is simply going to hurt yourself in the long run, since it won't only be me that you have this misguided opinion about. You are young. You need to have thicker skin and appreciate that people can have opinions different from you without hating you. This will let you be much happier and successful in the future.
If you don't, you're going to live your life thinking the world is full of enemies, when truth be told, most people couldn't care less. I have nothing against transgenders at all, and if my daughter decided she wanted to live life as a man, it wouldn't concern me at all, as long as she was happy doing so. For you personally, I'm rolling my eyes at you and only you, because you've built up this narrative that anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view hates transgendered/are transphobic/etc. Hopefully when you grow up a little more, you'll accept people in the same way you demand they accept you. Good luck!

I knew he'd be back.

I knew he'd be back.

And I knew you were being an ****, even by only skimming.

Since Thor has opened up of her own accord, and freely provided you with all this information, I suggest you either be respectful to her in her own thread or ****.

People are not providing you with information so that you can abuse them. I have not seen you sticking your neck out with any unusual private personal information or overly controversial opinions, probably because you fear a taste of your own medicine.
