And thanks for ignoring every supportive comment I have made, going all the way back to your first teen admission of loving another guy, right up through this thread, and the very supportive PM which I sent you and you never acknowledged. You choose to embrace victimhood and every victim needs an oppressive ogre, so you decided I was going to be yours and the actual facts be damned.
I am not "transphobic"; I don't give a damn what you choose to do with your gender/sexuality. But your rights don't extend to infringing upon mine by attempting to force PC-speak on me. If you weren't so congenitally snarky and snotty I would have made an effort to meet you halfway and use whatever gender pronoun you wish, as a matter of simple individual common courtesy. But you've had your *** on your shoulders gunning for me throughout so courtesy is right out the window and now I'd refer to you with male pronouns if for no other reason than to p!ss you off. Don't let the door hit you in the *** on the way out.
I think ignoring my humble request for you to use feminine pronouns with me was the straw that broke the camel's back, Mike Cash. I'm not a dog. I don't have to pander to your crap. It's not politically correct to refer to someone as the gender they identify with. I've already established a difference between biological sex and gender identity that you could have run with to save some troll face, but you opted to do otherwise. You do understand the concept of a backhanded compliment, do you not? Rough to use it within these parameters, but I think it applies just enough to get how I feel about your supportive PM. "I support you, lolz, but like you're such a dude". Nonsense and insincere crap.
And hey! Let's say this reply gets my point across, should you be lauded for meeting the basic requirements of a human being? You know, giving someone the most basic right they deserve as a human being? You know, having their identity respected? You like being Mike Cash, don't you? Would you like that being ripped from you and told to be someone completely different from who you are in a community you love beyond all reason, a community that is obviously unable to reciprocate those feelings back at you? I know I'm not the best person in the world, but I've thrown myself at my problems and worked them out. I've reached understandings with people on this board that I initially did not think possible. I wanted to contribute again and perhaps reignite my love for Japanese culture, but not at the expense of my goddamn self-respect. I fully expected you to be supportive and at least use the proper, feminine pronouns with me. It's a big thing.
I am in no way transphobic, but I would use the pronoun of the native gender until that person is fully living as the other gender. That means, passing in public as that new gender, and in the case of a web forum, not talking about their native genitals. I don't know Thor, but all this thread has established is that he is a man, who feels like a woman. I know I, as a biological man, would not need to proclaim my gender with a thread.
I sincerely wish you the best of luck in passing in the future, Thor.
I'm actually passing very well offline, thank you. Most trans people opt against living completely as their respective gender until they pass and I've done the same thing. Hormones do only so much and over such a period of time that they're trivial to respecting me as a human being and my identity. I came, posted this, and was going to have my handle/forum username changed to something that fit me better. But it's like, this is upsetting, nahadef. You've only been a member for such a short time. I've spent countless hours on this forum, laughing, getting angry, being annoyed, and generally having a good time. I love this community. I wanted to share who I really was with this community instead of burying it in my past as I have so much else. I've been here for eight years! Eight years! Requesting that my FRIENDS refer to me with feminine pronouns is not a huge request. Maybe some people didn't like what I was doing but supported me in this because it made me happy as a human being? That would have been okay. It's not up to you to decide whether or not my identity should be respected. It should be respected because it's a basic human right.
See, trans people have these things sometimes, should someone who comes out to their family but argues with them over the horrible stuff they say be denied their identity because they argued and established that their biological sex is "male" despite their gender identity being that of a woman? No, of course not. They should have their identity respected.
Since phobia means "fear" then it would require that those in question. I can't say I've ever feared any transgender or homosexual person. I have rolled my eyes from time to time, but I am not sure there is any Greek word for "prone to rolling eyes".
Transphobia, homophobia, xenophobia, these phobias extend far beyond their original fear of definition. Most extend to hate now too. Or just simply not respecting people. Let's use it in order. Transphobic means you are being hateful, and in some ways fearful of trans people. Homophobic means you are being hateful if not fearful of homosexual people. Xenophobia. Yeah. This is a good example to use on the forum considering it's for all things Japan, is being hateful or fearful towards foreigners, immigrants, and different cultures coming into your own.
"I haven't been interested in Japan for a long time. . . ."
Then perhaps a different forum would suit you better.
What does one do to reignite her interest in a subject that was enthralled her? Oh yes, surround herself in discussion of it, see new examples of what that culture is doing, how it's growing, and that sort of jazz. Does this make sense to you?
