How is Kanjii structured?

Okay, so I really don't know how kanji is supposed to be structured. Could someone give me a lesson in this?

As it says, the thousands of kanji are composed of about 214 components ("radicals"). Mix and match these pieces and you can make up the 2136 "Joyo" kanji that make up the kanji that every high school graduate should know (and all other kanji). These pieces of the kanji can often be traced back to give clues as to pronunciation and meaning. A given kanji will consist of at least 1 radical with most 2 or 3 or 4.
木 = tree
果 = fruit
森 = forest
枠 = frame
all three of these words have some relationship to trees or wood. The concept is simple but the deeper you go, the more likely you will drown.
