今、英語で、I'm not eating my banana には、食べるような気分ではない, 今は食べる気がしない, 食べれないよ, バナナなどを食べることを拒絶するなどとういう意味も含まれている。

しかし自分自身について話す場合、日本人ならそんな [私は食べていません] は良く使わないだろうね。

Isnt it common for nai/less polite endings to be used in the middle of sentences and masu/more polite endings to be used at the very end in polite speech.

i.e.
ﾂ行窶堋ｩ窶堙遺?堋ｩ窶堙≫?堋ｽ窶堙?ｽv窶堋｢窶堙懌?堋ｷ窶堋ｪ
ﾂ行窶堋ｫ窶堙懌?堋ｹ窶堙ｱ窶堙??堋ｵ窶堋ｽ窶堙?ｽv窶堋｢窶堙懌?堋ｷ窶堋ｪ

Something you buy for others or for yourself, when you visit somewhere.

Uh, 行きませんでしたと思いますが sounds odd. As for と言った, (e.g. 行きますと彼は言った。), he literally said "行きます." But 思う expresses the speaker's/subject's own thought, so masu-form basically can't be used with と思う.

Wouldnt it be more like
The baby looked at me and (then) smiled beamingly?

割 = わり (Cut, sever, divide /Fraction apart the damage w/ a sword ;-)) 害 = がい

The timing is vague, but 私に見て -- that part -- are we still in Japanese ?? What dictionary is this again ? Sorry I don't understand at all...

There are situations where you would use it for other people to ask/tell you to look at/see something....but, it is, sadly, something I really can't talk about right now as there's too much to cope with here as is.

Basically there's no obvious difference in the meaning. But some adverbs, mostly mimetic words, sometimes change the meaning by the particle.
