How do you know... ON/KUN and beyond

Can anyone give me a short quiz of any sentences you think I would be able to do? Thanks! -te forms, adjectives, whatever...even if i fail i'll have a nice try! This time I'm going to do the hiragana and katakana as well as kanji. A lot of copy-pasting, yeah...
OK. Here's some sentences from a textbook.

Can't edit, so hey, I just found out why I had a huge problem with -deshita and -katta.

untitled36-1.webp

I was confusing up the -na and -i verbs! The first one is a -na verb so it gets -deshita, and the one below is -i so if it were in past, it would get -katta.
ADJECTIVES.;-)
Yeah, 窶堋ォ窶堙ェ窶堋「 is indeed confusable.

OK. Here's some sentences from a textbook.

Ah...I don't understand a lot of that, to be honest.
nobbo 3 go wa o(help)i robotto desu.
ie no naka no iroirona shigoto o dondon o(help)ishitekuremasu. something, wash something, ryori ni, something tsuke. nani demo something memasu.

Uh....this is going to sound weird, but anything dumber? Just throw together a sentence you think I would be able of translating based on the stuff you've generously helped me with!

I can think of one: I smoked tobacco and rode my bike (hey, may as well do something healthy!)

Tobako o sutte, jitensha ni norimasu.

...something in my brain is saying that this is this formal thing, how would i say ride my bike non-formal? I know it would be noranai if it was negative casual, i forgot is it it notte (notta)?

Its テツダイ and it means to help and when written with お before it, it means "helper" or "maid"。

It would be のりました rather than のります.
乗った 【ノッタ】 Is correct for casual past positive.

I think i got the main idea from those sentences...

by the way, what textbook are those from? 😊😊

The sentence structures are quite simple. I think you would be able to understand just by looking up some words in a dictionary.;-)
OK, how about this?

窶堋ア窶堙姑湛ツーニ致窶堙坂?扨窶堋「ツ。
This soup is hot.

What's the past negative polite form of this sentence?

I know it would be noranai if it was negative casual
Right, ツ湘ヲ窶堙ァ窶堙遺?堋「 is the present negative informal/casual form, so what's the past one?

by the way, what textbook are those from? 😊😊
A textbook for,,, uh,,, pre-school children...😌(I changed kana into kanji, though.)

LMFAO! A textbook for pre-school children. That's definitely hilarious, man. LOL! Ah, well at least I could pass off as the intelligence of a Japanese baby!

このスープは熱い。
This soup is hot.

What's the past negative polite form of this sentence?

Well it's an -i adjective (not verb!) so then it would be (This soup wasn't hot):
このスープは熱くありませんでした.

And for informal negative past...このスープは熱くなかったです? Most likely wrong as I have no idea.

Right, 乗らない is the present negative informal/casual form, so what's the past one?

Hmm..at first I was going to put noranakatta but that's completely wrong, for adjectives and informal past tense (I think).

...A quick cheat at Wikipedia tells me I was right. :( I hate being stupid! 乗らなかった.

---

The more I read Wikipedia the more I seem to get frustrated.
If I was talking with my friend and I wanted to say that test wasn't hard, would it be Kono shiken wa muzukashikunakatta?
日本に行かない (I am not going to Japan)? And then, 日本に行かなかった (I didn't go to Japan)? 日本に行きたくなかった (I didn't want to go to Japan)?

Hm. I must be blind because I don't see any difference in what I put and what you have for the first one.

As for the second one I did change it but I guess you had the unedited one. I feel good that I got it right! +rep'd undrentide! (One qq, why isn't there a desu at the end of the 2nd one? Is it unneeded for casual conversations?)

--

I have noticed all I did was -i adjectives. I'm reading Japanese adjectives - Wikipedia and I see -na adjectives...they seem much harder.
I know that quiet (shizuka na) fits this, so, ongaku wa shizuka da? or something that would make more sense, ongaku wa shizuka de wa nai? Kore wa shizuka de wa nai ongaku? (or does ongaku go right after shizuka)

As I am reading the -te forms for adjectives...how would I use them? If I wanted to say that the baby is healthy and beautiful, genki de kirei da?

And another thing:

untitled3-1.webp

Is that, waikemasen or, haikemasen?

Probably that's the one undrentide-san pointed out.

窶堋ア窶堙姑湛ツーニ致窶堙坂?扨窶堋「窶堙??堋キツ。(polite)
窶堋ア窶堙姑湛ツーニ致窶堙坂?扨窶堋「ツ。(informal)

Thus, 窶扨窶堋ュ窶堙遺?堋ゥ窶堙≫?堋ス窶堙??堋キ is another past negative polite form of i-adjectives.

Holy. Crap. I've rarely been correct! This is a monumental day for me. I still have to remember to scan that sheet I gave my teacher...

Anyways, now inevitably comes my question of the -i adjectives and -te forms, though now that I got the -na's right, the -i's should be easy. I think, isogashii and...hmm...I guess I can't go off without omoshiroi.

先週は忙しくてにぎやかで面白かった. (くなかった if it was past tense!)

Yeah, they werent that hard once i looked up the cleaning words and 'tanomu' and noppo, still not sure what that is... 😊😊

Lanky thing (???) #3 is a robot maid(help, housecleaner).
noppo#3 helps with various things around the house (often, steadily? not sure how to work "dondon" into this sentence)
Cleaning, Laundry, Cooking, and tidying up. (dont know why there is a ni after ryouri)
You can request anything.

Hmm...I'm not too sure on naming, but tanaka san wa okane mochide kakko yokute miryokuteki desu ne?

Well, from what I can piece together, Tanaka san is extremely fascinated with holding money. kakko isn't a word familiar to me, and is yokute a -te form for good? (ii -> yoku -> yokute)

As for the pre-school, I'm glad it was that much! If it was any lower I'd start to have self esteem problems :P I repped you both, it took forever for me to do so for Toritoribe. I'm on ~490 Kanji and Lesson 6/parts of 7 in Genki.

From one of Elizabeth's posts in the "difference between two sentences" I saw
これは日本で売っていない本です。
utteinai hon desu is the part where I get confused. I can understand how utte is the -te form of uru, and so what I think is that the inai is iru -> informal/casual negative, inai, but the hon at the end without an o, is that acceptable?

I belive 'Tanaka' is the most common reading of 窶彡窶吮??(maybe the only, but i dont know)

窶ケテ?ナスツ昶?堋ソツ means 'rich person' (literally money-have) so works with nouns and acts like the ツ〜窶堙?・ツ〜窶堙 for nouns

ナ?iツ好ツ【窶堋ゥ窶堙≫?堋ア窶堋、ツ】ツ Means appearance, and of course
窶堋「窶堋「ツ・窶堙ヲ窶堋「 Means good (remember whenever you conjugate 窶堋「窶堋「ツ you must turn it into 窶堙ヲ窶堋「, even inツ 窶堋ゥ窶堙≫?堋ア窶堋「窶堋「 ), 窶堋セ窶堋ゥ窶堙ァ
窶堋ゥ窶堙≫?堋ア窶堋「窶堋「 is like cool/good style
窶堋ゥ窶堙≫?堋ア窶堙ヲ窶堋ュ窶堙 is "having good style/being cool, and..."

窶督」窶氾坂?廬
Is a ~na adjective meaning charming.

How do you give rep?

I dont think i understand your other question... the hon doesnt need an 'o'
nai is acting like an adjective with hon... heres another example:

のっぽ(ノッポ) means "tall/gangly," or "a gangly person/thing." Probably 3号 would be for "the third version" in this case.

noppo#3 helps with various things around the house (often, steadily? not sure how to work "dondon" into this sentence)
どんどん has a nuanse of "doing the works one after another."

Cleaning, Laundry, Cooking, and tidying up. (dont know why there is a ni after ryouri)
That's the appositive usage of に as same meaning as と, a quite similar structure to "A, B, C, and D" in English.

日本で売っていない is the adnominal/adjectival clause modifying 本, as aardwolf-san explained. Thus, the core structure of the sentence is "これは本です." That's why を isn't needed. Does this make sense?;-)

I need to learn the right particles that go with certain verbs when i learn them. In fact i'd like to start a list of verbs and the particles to use with them, do you know any websites that would be a good place to start?

Also, Putrefaction!:

also...

Uh, I have to say it's tough or risky to generalize the nuance.
行く、行くね、行くわ、行くよ、行くぜ、行くぞ、行くか、行くな、行くから,,, there are tons of expression even for the statement "I'll go" by male in standerd Japanese. Sentence final particles are EXTREMELY hard to grasp far more than case particles in a sense.😌

~じゃん is the shortened form of じゃねー≫じゃない? so its like saying "isnt that _____?" this is highly feminine right? only the girls in the anime im watching use it.
No. じゃん as the sentence final particle is not the contraction of じゃない. It's a dialect originally used in Yokohama.

and~ きゃ
You use this quite a bit it seems, what does it mean? is it related to ちゃう?
きゃ is the contraction of ければ(e.g. 行かなきゃ = 行かなければ), quite frequently used both by male and female in conversation. Similarly, ちゃう is the contraction of てしまう(笑っちゃう = 笑ってしまう).

also, is one definition of ちゃう a shortened form of ちがう?
ちゃう means ちがう in Kansai dialect.

窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 means 窶堋ソ窶堋ェ窶堋、 in Kansai dialect.

Okay :P
No. 窶堋カ窶堙。窶堙ア as the sentence final particle is not the contraction of 窶堋カ窶堙。窶堙遺?堋「. It's a dialect originally used in Yokohama.
窶堋ェ窶堙≫?堙??堙アツ〜
窶堋ォ窶堙。 is the contraction of 窶堋ッ窶堙ェ窶堙?e.g. ツ行窶堋ゥ窶堙遺?堋ォ窶堙。 = ツ行窶堋ゥ窶堙遺?堋ッ窶堙ェ窶堙?, quite frequently used both by male and female in conversation. Similarly, 窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 is the contraction of 窶堙??堋オ窶堙懌?堋、(ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 = ツ湘寂?堙≫?堙??堋オ窶堙懌?堋、).
窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 means 窶堋ソ窶堋ェ窶堋、 in Kansai dialect.

Hmm okay thanks, thats aloooot easier that 窶堙遺?堋ッ窶堙ェ窶堙篠 😌

How does ツ〜窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 conjugate?
And another 窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 is shortened 窶堙??堋オ窶堙懌?堋、ツ。
ツ債「窶堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、ツ??債「窶堙≫?堙??堋オ窶堙懌?堋、
:pツ 窶堋?窶堙ィ窶堋ェ窶堙??堋、

How does ツ〜窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 conjugate?
ツ〜窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堋、 conjugates as a godan verb.
e.g.
Past: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堙≫?堋ス
Negative: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堙ュ窶堙遺?堋「
Pre-masu form: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋「(窶堙懌?堋キ)
Te-form: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堙≫?堙
Potential: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋ヲ窶堙ゥ
Imperative: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋ヲ
Volitional: ツ湘寂?堙≫?堋ソ窶堙。窶堋ィ窶堋、

But the causative form 窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堙ュ窶堋ケ窶堙ゥ and the passive form 窶堋ソ窶堙。窶堙ュ窶堙ェ窶堙ゥ would be rarely used.
