I need help with the translation of the following word:
卖了
I know that the second kanji is "ryuu", meaning "to finish; understand", but have no idea about the first one (couldn't find it), and what the word composed of the two means
 
I looked it up in a program called "gucharmap". The output was:


So, I guess, it's chinese. The Mandarin Pronunciation of 了 is LIAO3.

EDIT: http://www.worldlingo.com/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html translates "卖了" to "sold"

And the Japanese reading is "ryou" (not "ryuu").
