Hi, I'm Zibo!

At 21, soon to be 22, I'm an African American with high-functioning autism on a journey of learning Japanese. Considering the possibility of moving to Japan, I'm seeking support to address my questions and concerns about this unique adventure.

Welcome to Jref! Good luck in your studies and your journey as well!

Hi Zibo. Welcome to the forum. We have another member, @Haruto Uzumaki, who also had little more than a dream to come to Japan and somehow against the odds he taught himself Japanese and recently made his first trip to Japan. Probably he could give you some ideas and tips.

Hey there Zibo, I'm Haruto 👋
I'm nearly the same age as you (20), also African-American (as far as race goes at least), and I have ADHD so I can somewhat relate to you :)
If you have any questions feel free to ask and you're welcome to mention me anytime so I'll see your posts. Most importantly, I want to tell you that if you have a dream worth dying for (or even just worth being pushed past your limits), never give up on that dream and keep at it till the end
Whether it's learning Japanese or finding out how you can live in Japan, I can assure you that you'll make progress through perseverance ✊
And one more thing, if by any chance your autism causes you to focus on details, I think you'll be happy to know that, at least in my opinion, being detailed and meticulous is a common theme in Japanese crafts, culture, mindset, etc. so I bet you can use that to your advantage and turn it into some potentially valuable skill!
