Hello from Pennsylvania

Hello everyone. I found this site looking for new places to learn about the japanese language and culture. So far I've not learned much japanese but I feel the only way to truly retain what I'm learning is to practice in both speaking and reading it.

Please excuse me if I speak some very bad japanese here and there. And if I mess anything up or my wording is all wrong please inform me of this. lol

So I figure the best way to finish my first post is of course-

As for kanji lookup, there are many different online dictionaries that you can use. I use Moji, which is a plug-in for the Mozilla Firefox browser. There's a link to it in my signature.

I've yet to find a good kanji dictionary or translater. But I will continue looking. Right now I"m consentrating on learning and understanding both hiragana and katakana.

You guys are all so nice. Thanks for pointers on typing. I hadn't realized there was such a difference between typing and speaking the language and the way it's spelled. But that's undertstandable I have sooo much to learn.

And WHOOT at philly. I"ve not been there too often. It's a pretty long drive. But the times I have been there I've enjoyed it.
