What's up, everyone? Been a long time since I've contributed to a forum. I've been in Japan a quarter of my life now, and enjoy every minute of it (okay, maybe that's a bit of hyperbole :meh
. I used to find a lot of useful information about Japan on forums, and thought I'd sign up and give a little back, if I have the chance.
I've taught Japanese history, film and language in the U.S., and English here in Japan for many years. I've recently given up the teaching gig to shift over to freelance translation full-time.
I like to think that I know a lot about various aspects of Japanese culture, but in truth, I am a dilettante, and so know very little about a wide range of things...
I enjoy studying kanji, Buddhism, and Japanese military history. I also like photography, Japanese cooking (as in making the food myself), and trying to get my children into Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons so that I will finally have someone to play with here in Japan.
