molestthyguitarists - I have no idea... apparently he's called Alex... the photos were originally on his blog but I found them off a LJ group... there were other pictures of him with members of the cast. Just the one of Gackt though.

Tsuki no Uta - me neither... and especially not Gackt... he's my favorite J-musician and I get to see him on the big screen!!! ^-^ So excited!!!

It makes me feel so proud of Gackt. That he is actually doing the things that he wants to do. For anyone else the whole World Domination thing would sound funny...but I think Gackt can actually do it! 0_o It's impressive how well he is succeeding.

You know why I am really excited about Bunraku? Because he will have to speak English in it. *squuuueeeeeeeee* I love Gackt's engrish!!! He has such a cute accent!!

I cant wait to hear gackt imitating hyde and I especially so cant wait for the movie. I still cant believe that he's doing a movie with josh hartnett (I actually kinda like Josh) and that Gackt will be on a big screen, this is sooo great news that guy simply can do anything, I'm so proud and happy for him <3

It will be really cool if Gackt brings J-Rock to the rest of the world just like he wants to. Like if by doing things like making this movie he opens up the door for other musicians to follow.
 
I have reservations about how much Bunraku will bring Jrock to the rest of the world if I'm honest. Of course more people will have heard of Gackt but I don't know if it will make a significant difference.
As an analogy, Rain was recently in Speed Racer (although shite was a pretty big film) and I don't know about in the US but in the UK Korean music is no more popular than before. Perhaps Rain has a few more fans but I don't think we can buy his music and it's not looking likely that he will play a live. However, this might not be a fair analysis as I know he is pretty popular in the US.

Jrock seemed to get popular for a small time in the UK but still not very much... however the rest of Eurpoe is different so I can't really say for sure.

I think what I'm trying to say is that I think Gackt will mainly be known as an actor and this will make little difference to the music popularity.

OK I'm going to stop ranting as I'm not sure this makes all that much sense... it's too early in the morning to have a proper opinion!

@CharismaticDeath: hm he might be mainly known as an actor but I guess if people really like him alot in this movie, they might wanna find out more about him and that's when they discover that he's actually a musician. Maybe they will like his music, maybe they dont but I think some really will.

@CharismaticDeath: I don't think that Bunraku itself will make a huge difference. It's just that Gackt is starting to do so many things outside of Japan, that it seems eventually people will notice. Now if he starts acting in more widely known films, or at least continuing with movies with popular actors, who knows what he can accomplish. ^_^ But it's true, I don't think that Bunraku is going to be a big release. It's supposed to come out this summer, and there is no mention of it anywhere but on Josh Hartnett and Gackt blogs. So yeah, it probably will have minimal effect on the popularity on J-Rock. -.-"

I think that a lot more people would be interested in him if the Youtube videos were still up. Anyone that is really interested in him for his acting will almost certainly look it up. And before you couldn't search for anything on him without running into Vanilla or Mizerable. >_< Now the best they'll find is tv interviews...and then of course they'll lose interest because he isn't saying a word in english. *headdesk*
 
Gyc-jir - Yeah the publicity for Bunraku is weird... they should at least have a teaser trailer out by now. :S
I think the state of Jrock outside Japan has improved a lot. I remember the first Jrock gig in the UK (I don't mean one associated with an anime convention). Things are dying down recently ... which is a shame... we seem to get missed out of most tours outside Japan They need to realize that Europe is a big place and we can't just all fly to France for a gig. But that's a totally different issue.

382addict - of course he will get some new fans... probably quite a lot. And hopefully they just think of him as "the hot guy from Bunraku!" But I suppose that's better than nothing

We never know... maybe one day we'll get a Gackt show that isn't in asia! But right now I doubt it... he can sell out such big venues there it would be operating on such a loss to come here and play a tiny venue.... however much I'd love it!

@CharismaticDeath - That is why the idea of S.K.I.N. was so brilliant. They could all combine their fortunes and fans and then imagine if they did a world tour. They would sell out everywhere they went, and grow as they went. I wish so much that they were showing signs of activity. It would be so cool! So ridiculously unbelievably cool.

Yeah, it is hollywood. But like we were saying...there is nothing out about it yet. Just a very basic story description. So I am not sure when it will get to theatres, or where it will show. I hope it will be big. Wouldn't it be simply amazing to see a poster with Gackt's name on it outside the movie store? XD
 
OMG i know, right?? although i will be a lil bit pissed about all the girls who f*cking hate jrock and VK and think its weird who will end up falling in love with Gacchan because he's so hot, and acting like THEY f*cking discovered him. Hypocrites. im happy but... well... i dunno, i guess since Gacchan is about to become even more popular i am afraid i will lose him to the masses...
please dont be offended by my language... its just that im very afraid of losing him... but i know i will love him always... but what if they misinterpret Gackt's tendency to be a lil bit exclusive?? T-T i am insanely happy for Gacchan, but i worry anyway... but he won't ditch his *sorta* loyal fans for a bunch of mainstream girls??
 
Oh, I totally know what you're talking about. I was thinking the exact same thing and kind of ranting about it to my friends. I guess I am just glad that I found out about him just in time to be a fan before a bunch of random girls with no appreciation for his brilliance decide that they like his face. >_< I am just going to be so annoyed when I go to theatre and everyone is going to be babbling about how cute Josh is and really they should all be there for Gackt. I swear I am the only girl in my town who even knows he exists.

You know what really bugs me?? When you meet someone that is going on about how they looooooouuuuurrrve Japan, and how they listen to all this Japanese music, and then it turns out that all they have are a couple anime theme songs. >_> I have had to deal with so many people like that.
 
-_-" those people do get on my nerves. fortunately i live in Brooklyn, so theres like, 3 other people who know who Gacchan is that i know of... my best friend, my gay guy friend who has a crush on Gacchan now that i told him about him XD and my friend who actually hates jrock and stuff but thinks Gackt is great...(shes more of a Miyavi fan tho)

i hope they use Gackt songs in the movie. Like they used IV in SawIV but make it opening credits the world will become a VK paradise and Gacchan will be our sexy lord probably not but its worth dreaming of it... although i am also worried that people will associate me with the girls who will just think that Gackt's got a pretty face, while i have been a fan for much longer than they were. i am so happy i can say that i am a fan of Gackt because i love his music first, and everything else about him second.
and i am kinda dreading the day those girls come to this forum without knowing anything and see the live Vanilla... -_-" that is bound to get misinterpreted.... come on, Gacchan did talk once about how he thinks that women who are shaped like guitars are attractive... XD

Oh, ugh. I hate the conversations about whether Gackt is gay or not. My god people! Would you just listen to what the man said?? >_<

I think it will be fun if everyone I know goes and sees Bunraku and then I can be like "See! THAT is that Gackt guy that I am always babbling about!" It's actually really handy that I can just make my friends watch it and they will finally know who he is. All of my friends say that they can't listen to Japanese music because they hate listening to music that they can't sing along with.

"the emotion is there no matter what language they are singing it in" i tell them, "and in some cases the japanese is easier to understand than the english"... cuz, well, Gacchan's engrish in Vanilla was... well, horrible... though it was quite adorable, and he is very good now... and Miyavi could not pronounce english very well at one point... and Kyo, while he can WRITE in it, certainly... well, he can't speak it at all XD its very endearing to hear a Japanese boy trying to speak english...

hehe i am happy for Gackt, though. No matter what i will love him...
 
its always cute when japanese boys try to speak english. I was listening to agony of the gazette for weeks until i thought "hey wait, there is an english word in the lyrics" then i looked them up and realised that the whole song is in english, not just one word but Gacchan and Miyavi are quite good now. There is this one video of Gacchan on youtube (not sure if its still there) where the interviewer asks him "how are you feeling tooday?" and he smiles and says "aaah, I'm a lilttle bit tired". I dont know why but I'm so in love with this short little clip, I cant tell you how much.

and about this fangirls thing. I dont know if girls who are there for josh suddenly fall in love with Gacchan... I mean he is japanese and most of these typical fangirls dont even go for japanese boys. I mean there might be some but since the movie isnt going to be that big I dont think we have to be afraid of losing him to the mass. At least I really really pray for it. And even if this is going to happen, we know that we arent one of this mainstream fangirls and that we knew him LOOONG before they even talked about this movie so we rock xD

Gyc-jir - I agree... it's a shame they don't seem to have gone anywhere with S.K.I.N... we got one show that wasn't even a proper gig and then a few remarks in interviews about doing an album (mainly from Miyavi) ... and then nothing. It's so disapointing. They had loads of fans before any one had even heard them!

As for the discussion about hords of screaming Gackt-fangirls appearing... I agree 100% with everyone! (because I'm cool like that ) ... I used to want Jrock to be really popluar here... I did my best to get as many people to like it as possible, and I think I did pretty well. But then it went a little further than I wanted it to. We started getting gigs... and then I came into contact with other fans... don't get me wrong, some people I've recently met who like Jrock are awesome. But there are far too many people out there who are just into it for the look. Either that or they type who are "I am considerably more Japanese than you" ... no you're f*in not! neither of us are!
Then you get the problem of being dumped in with all the emo kids out there who are into Jrock. This counts for the UK (we have an emo epidemic atm!) That mainly comes from the numerous articles Kerrang! insist on publishing on Dir en grey... including the most recent one where Kyo said he doesn't have any friends! The rest of the band must have been thinking "helooooo!" that just fuels the emo mentality... Kyo is so alone... I relate to him so much! Arrrr! Irrational anger time!

As for the people who think Gackt is gay or a woman. I have even less time for them... ok slightly more time for the people who think he's (or could possibly be) gay. He did admit himself that he was bi-curious I remember... but any ways... yaoi is just any fangirls dream! But the woman thing... he's possibly the most manly Jrocker out there. The only time I've thought he looked feminine was in Fuurin Kazan... but that was only in comparison to the other men... who were most definitely men! (I can't think of any other way of putting it... any one whos seen it will know what I mean!)

Right... I think that will do for my ranting... you managed to bring up topics I feel passionately about... combined with reference to Gackt I could just keep talking all night!
 
yeah... Gackt is the one guy on my folders that consistently never gets mistaken for a girl. Kyo's another one. although the whole no friends thing might be cuz the band all claim to be just coworkers and not hang out outside the studio... whatever, but y'gotta remember what happened with the fiancee, and i really dont blame him for being wary and not trusting anyone... poor Kyo... but anyway at least the emo kids over in UK are listening to decent music. over here, it's all f*cking fall out boy and f*cking copycats coldplay... *puke* at least its possible we might hear Gackt on the radio...

as for the gay thing. i've been a lil bit confused about that with myself, but i found out that jrock existed, and then i was like... oh ^^ ... theres nothing wrong with trying it out and deciding for ones'self instead of blindly following what society says is right. i dont consider myself to be gay just cuz i kissed a girl in 2006 and then never again. therefore i dont consider Gackt to be gay cuz he facehumped his guitarists for the fanservice. big deal. and its not like britney, lindsey, angelina and all those other *important* people havent done it also so why the **** is it different in jrock??
 
the weird thing is, that gacchan is the only jrocker Ive never mistaken for gay. I dont know why, I've seen all these clips on youtube where he is this cool guy that hardly smiles and all that and I thought "no a guy like him would NEVER kiss another guy" but well, i was so totally wrong xD because then I saw all the clips where he is grabbing the other guy between his legs and the vanilla live and all that but I still didnt think he was gay... I just thought "wow..." lol. and molestthyguitarists I totally agree with you... I also kissed a girl once (and never again) so does that make me gay? well I think stuff like that is normal in Jrock
 
I think that really, if you are going to like jrock, then you are going to just deal with the fact that you need to accept a lot of things that would never have occured to you before. Like the fact that you can kiss, make out with, feel up, and just about anything else with someone of the same sex without being gay. It's just a part of who they are.
 
Hey guys, aren't we being just as bad as the people who talk about how gay he is by talking about how not gay he is? 0_o I think it's pretty much a topic that just doesn't need to be discussed. Just know what he said about it and take him at his word. No one will ever really know but him (and the men and women that he has or has not slept with, I suppose ^_^).
 
@Gyc-jir: I agree. And to be honest, I dont really care if he is gay or if he isnt gay. It's about the person and the music and not about the people he's in bed with. And actually, as far as I "know" the people here, (unlike with other artists in other threads), we all dont care if he is gay or not, we love him and what he does with all our heart ^_^, right?
