For Those in Japan - What American Shows are on TV?

Any TV shows from foreign countries being shown on Japanese TV?

I remember back in the late '60s and early '70s many American (and other foreign) shows dubbed in Japanese were very popular on Japanese TV. The first show I remember is a puppet-animation called "The Thunderbirds" from U.K. This was such a big hit among kids that many of the spaceships and aircraft from the show were sold as plastic models.

"Bewitched" with Elizabeth Montgomery was called "Okusama wa Majo" (The Mrs. is a Witch)

"Mission Impossible" with Peter Graves was called "Spy Daisakusen" (The Great Spy Mission)

"I Dream of Genie", "Land of the Giants", "It Takes a Thief" and "I, Spy" were also on but don't remember what they were called in Japanese

"Beverly Hillbillies" was called "Jaja'uma Okuman-chouja"

"our Gang" was called "Chibikko Gyangu" (Little kids gang)

There was a series about a nurse played by Dianne Carroll called "Julia" that was a hit.

Among cartoon shows were "Tom & Jerry" "Popeye" and British cartoon of "King Kong"

I remember...

watching Bonanza and thinking Hop Sing seemed more normal speaking Japanese. The thing I always was amazed at was the tone of the voice dubbed in sounded just like the original characters voice. For a long time I thought the American actors were reading the Japanese lines because the voices sounded the same.
Do you ever remember seeing an ad for "Mandom" colone or aftershave with Charles Bronson. He was shirtless & poured half the bottle on himself, looked you in the eye & said MANDOM !!

I remember the Bronson commercials. You see so many major Hollywood stars who would never do a TV ad doing Commercials in Japan.

"Star Trek" used to be on and Mr. Sulu also sounded normal speaking Japanese. Except the lip movements didn't match. They do a remarkably good job in dubbing in Japan, especially Clint Eastwood. It really sounded like he studied and mastered Japanese. Unlike dubbing Gojira (Godzilla) movies in English here . . . 5 syllables to say "Get out!"

Mr. Sulu was called "Misutaa Kato" in the Japanese version.

I even remember back in the early '70s when they had a Japanese-versions of "Laugh In", "Let's Make a Deal" and "Archie's Fun House".

Funniest thing was watching Tom & Jerry, Popeye or Bugs Bunny speaking in Japanese. Some of the Jokes didn't translate well.
