More price rises.

I cannot square the increase in prices (18%) with the rate of inflation (3.7% I think). Can anyone else?

My wife shops once a week for groceries and I have to listen to her complain about price increases for 2 or 3 days after. She put her back out so I have to go with her tomorrow to lug things and she has warned me I have to stick to her list and nothing extra , LOL.

I would assume that higher costs for imports, raw materials and increasing energy prices contribute to those rises. Also, many Japanese companies haven't increased their prices in decades. With the slump triggered by the Coronavirus pandemic and the war in Ukraine the dam's finally burst.

That article isn't written very well. An 18% rise on top of an already 14% rise vs. last year would be a massive increase and would imply a monstrous inflation rate in just two years. Too confusing to be useful.
