Hi there - I'm an English teacher (from the UK) at a school in Wakayama prefecture, with a Japanese wife and son. I've been here about eight months now, but my Japanese isn't improving as fast as it should be, so I'm looking for people to share ideas with.

Greetings and welcome. I like Wakayama, been there a couple times. Btw, don't pressure yourself to pick up the language as fast as you can. My advice would be to just enjoy your new life, make plenty of Japanese-speaking friends, and of course take the opportunity to practice your 窶愿ｺ窶怒ﾅ津ｪ with your wife when given the chance. It will all come together in due time.

Hi Oyajigari ! Welcome To The Forum !!

Worry about making the best of your time in Japan, not the language. Getting out among the people and enjoying yourself will allow the language to progress naturally. And having a wife/translator at your side it a great help.
I used to leave a radio or TV on anytime I could, hopeing for a little osmosis from hearing the language all the time. Traval as much as possibe and take lots of pictures, the memories wil last forever. Glad you found JREF, post often and enjoy.
