Ferrari Japan recalls more than 7,000 vehicles on brake failure concerns

Ferrari Japan has recalled more than 7,000 vehicles of 24 models amid brake failure concerns, local newspaper Hokkaido Shimbun reported on Thursday. A total of 7,286 vehicles produced between April 2004 and July 2022 have been affected, the report cited the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as confirming. While the car maker notified the ministry about 2,496 vehicles of seven vehicle models in June, a subsequent investigation revealed that additional models were also facing the same problem. The move marks the largest recall by Ferrari in Japan, the report said. In August, the luxury car maker recalled 23,555 vehicles in the US market over the same issue.

A few years ago I was pulling into the car dealer to trade in my old truck for a new vehicle , the brakes totally failed. I had just got off the interstate road doing high speed. I was only doing about 15 miles an hour when I pulled into the dealer and slammed my truck into park. I often think back that someone was looking out for me on the timing of that brake failure. It's a scary feeling when that pedal goes to the floor and nothing happens !

I remember seeing fancy sports cars in Tokyo and just thinking "WHY!?" Such an absolute, aggravating waste; pure conspicuous consumption.

It took me a while to learn to drive on the "wrong" side of the road in Fukuoka. Our HFDF building was about 5 miles down the road brom Hakata Base. I always worried that if a small Japanese car hit us , we would ride right over it like a tank. I saw a ton of accidents in those 2 years , but never was involved in one.



I remember the base lecture that if we killed someone, you went to apologise to the family with 2 cartons of American cigerettes and a bottle of Johnny Walker?? The thing about Japanese cars that struck me as hard to believe was the number of taxies. Seemed like 3 taxies for each person.
