Central Honshuu, no doubts . If I had to be specific, Southern Nagano-Gifu mainly for the magnificently historic, picturesque, remote and thus well-preserved Kiso Valley region (the Edo-era Nakasendo Highway joining Kyoto and present day Tokyo).
