english music?

English music? Hmm, let's see. In no particular order, I've got:
- Placebo
- Orgy
- Flogging Molly
- David Bowie
- H.I.M. (sorta)
- Lemon Demon
- Modest Mouse (at times)
- Muse
- Red Hot Chilli Peppers
- Tool
- The Mars Volta
- The Strokes
- The Verve
and several others that I'm too lazy to think of at the moment. 😌

I find that English music can be a bit boring now, so I listen more to Jpop and Jrock but I do still like My Chemical Romance, Green Day and Evanescence.

Listening to Shiina Ringo (why is she labeled jpop? she's more "rock" than a lot of jrock bands who sound kinda poppish to me) made me listen to PJ Harvey again.

English music? Oh yeah, almost forgot about that. ☝ (nah, not really :joyful: )
I still listen very, very rarely to Falconer or Placebo. Or Manson. And not quite as rare to German stuff, medieval / medieval rock like Schandmaul, Subway to Sally, Die Streuner, Saltatio Mortis and In Extremo. That was about it. ☝
And what got me cut off? Don´t really know. J-music is just more interesting, I guess. It´s rather hard to talk with people here (friends or so) about music, cause I don´t watch TV, listen to radio (married with the puter ^^;;;; ), and the only music-mag I read is about the western gothic-scene (some while back they had an article about Visual Kei! :D:D:D:D ), so I haven´t got a clue what people are talking about (Hip Hop, Pop, "Hey, seen the new PV of what's-their-name?" :? ).
Now that just shows it: We need more asian / J-music here!

yeah... so who here actually listens to stuff in english anyomore? and i'm not talking about the odd x-japan song or... suprisingly most of pop is dead (damn him and his seriously broad accent)

like, i listen to >some< but... the most 'heared of' band that i have more then 1 song of in my playlist is nightwish... and they're finish, lol.

the other bands are like the birthday massacre, k's choce, kill hannah.... that's about it, lol. (again, not really all that heavey, but pretty darn unique well... kill hannah not so much, but the guy's voice is hott)

so, yeah, what is it about jrock that just... completely disconnects you with the world we once knew?
i can hardly talk about music now with most people because... i have no idea what they're going on about...
i'm just wondering how many of us have completely cut themselves off from this sid of the world?

I listen to alot of english music^^
Saw motorhead live in october, Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath in summer! Love them! The reason why japanese bands are so great is coz it is totaly different from what I am used to:-) And it sounds soo cool, and really gets my blood pumping=)

Hmm, there are only rarely times when I listen to some not-asian bands or artists, or just random songs. Marilyn Manson, Placebo, t.A.T.u [excuse me, I LIKE them >-<] or CMX [it's Finnish, I didn't expect you to know it]. So, mostly Asian, and I'm happy with it :D

U LIKE CLAY AIKEN?????? *stab* :D ok i have to say of course he had the best voice on that talant show, however, he just doesn't cut it out for me sorry =( I like the rest tho, especially audioslave ^^

Recently I have been trying to gain an interest in both sides of music to keep it in balance, cause before all i ever listened to was jrock. So now because of one of my best friends I love audio slave, ACDC, Led zeppelin, Black sabbath and ozzy solo stuff, Arctic monkeys, franz ferdinand [who I went to see last year in November with my....now ex girlfriend :(] and Bloc Party and many others! ^^ Rammstein are great too.

Yeah tatu are really unique. The whole concept of being russian for a start. I like 'nas de nagoina' [not spelt right] 😊 otherwise known as not gonna get us, and the song they sung at the eurovision song contest. Not so much like their stuff now though..

I have been avoiding this post because alot of people seem to be anti rap. And the music that I listen to mostly outside of J-Rock and Pop is Rap and R&B. Now I can't really defend alot of the crap that is coming out these days. Especially since most of it is either Crunk or Booty Shake music. Which outside of a club (because it is great for dancing to) I don't like and can't stand. But some good Rap artists IMO are Tupac, Common, OutKast, Nas and Talib Kwali just to name a few. And R&B can be as bad a pop sometimes. But some good artists I like Jill Scott, Erika Badu, Mary J Blige, and Keysha Cole.

Most of you I see like Rock, for me in all honestly I have really started to get into Rock in the last 2-3years, before that I really didn't listen to it, I mean nobody in my family listened to it except for a few (U2, Beatles, Jemi Hendrix, and Elvis). But some Rock (english) that I do like is Nirvana, Foo Fighters, White Stripes (The drumming is bad, but the riffs are interesting) (SOME mostly older) GreenDay, My Chemical Romance, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Linkin Park (Liking Rap I liked the mashup but I was listening to them before the mash-up also). Thats not a really complete list just some.

And this might seem odd, but I really like ElectroClash like Peaches and Miss Kittin.

Most things these days are quite crap in the clubbing scene.. It is great dancing music, but the whole thing itself is soo pointless.. like rave, hardhouse ect.. I like some Hip-Hop though.. The real kind that has meaning and feelings to it, like a norwegian group called "Gatas Parlament"(the parlament of the street)..that and Cypress Hill^^

Wow, so many posts, and not a single one of my couple of hundred favourite acts who sing in English...I think i'm too old for this thread...:(

*made of stone slinks out to find some fellow living fossils around Jref to chat with*

^ Well, why not say who some of your faves are? You might find some of us share your taste in music ! :p

Right you are Kinsao! Some of my favourites off the top of my head:

Pixies, Massive Attack, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, Lee Perry, Leftfield, Ian Brown, MAW, New Order, The Kinks, Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream, Kooks, Johnny Cash, Amy Winehouse...so very much good music in the world :)

😎

The music I listen to the most is Industrial && a lot of those bands are German but sing in English or a crazy mixture.
I think I listen to more Japanese, French && German bands than English.
I don't know why. I guess I like the fact that it's different music. Something I don't hear on the radio or see on the tv. :-) It's new to me.
I still love & listen to English bands like Placebo, Babyshambles, A Perfect Circle, Rasputina, VAST, Jack Off Jill, The Smashing Pumpkins, Patrick Wolf, Shakespear's Sisters, Lou Reed,The Misfits && all my ElectroClash bands like Le Tigre, Femme Fatality, Chicks On Speed. I like fast, upbeat or crazy sounding music. 😄

I have a rather diverse musical taste:😌

Lesbian Bed Death,
Uninvited Guest,
No Doubt,
Rammestein,
Muse,
Nina Hagen,
Bill Bailey (he does songs, he counts),
Rockbitch,
Wednesday13,
Strawberry Switchblade

Right you are Kinsao! Some of my favourites off the top of my head:... Johnny Cash, ...

That's what I"m talkin' about! If you can't tell I'm a current fan of country music. Though I will be the first to admit that most of whatever is coming from the major country labels is NOT country, its some kind of pop crap... That is not to say that I hate it all. I do like much of it, I'd like it even more if it were classified as its correct genre.
Aside from that I also like a group from German called "Wise Guys" Although I don't understand most of it becuase I"m only in my 3rd year of German class. They're one of those groups that use little to no instruments, I know the word, just not how to spell the term...

Johnny Cash is cool. 👍 :-)

I also like the Kinks, too!

Jake Thackery (sp?) makes me laugh with his funny songs... they're clever rhymings and such.

I listen to alot of things. I find that alot of music that I like comes out of Finland...

Cradle of filth *pokes my username* yeah..
HIM
the 69 Eyes
Negative
Nightwish
Placebo *recently got into them*
She wants Revenge * These Things*
Blutengel
Terminal Choice
Lacuna coil
Within Temptation
Muse
I AM GHOST
Entwine
Poisonblack
the Birthday Massacre
30 Seconds to Mars
Aiden

much more but gotta type up an essay
