I don't mined English music, but I am English and really when I walk though the halls of my school it is all I can hear. I Love K's Choice, they were a pretty popular bad back in the 90's over here. I like them for many songs but one of my favorite's is Addicted. They also played on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, at the Bronze one night. Sorry big Buffy fan. *giggles* I know total geek! I much perfer to listen to 90's more then any other music. I really don't like the music that is around now. Like rap and country. Ok some country I can tolerate but most is crap.

I personality think that today's music in North America Sucks ***! But that is just my opinion.

GAH! yay! another k's fan! ^.^
i love them, they;re possibly my secnd fave band.
and yeah... i'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge buffy fan, lol... completely obsessed, that;s how i got to know about K's choice ^.^, and biff naked, and.... actually michel branch ^.^

and i agree with todays music.... it's really hard to find anything worth listening to now... but there are some reealy underground bands that have some alright stuff ^.^

I have noticed that after listening jrock bands, they seem to be more creative with their music than western bands. Like for me, Japanese guitarplayers are awesome, and after listening them, western guitarists (and bands in general) sound boring and somehow I'm like "hmh, this has been done before...".
Not that I'm claiming to be anykind of "musicalinstrumentspecialist", it's just my opinion. And I forgot to mention that sometimes I listen to Moby and Safri Duo.

^.^
yes, this is very true. I've noticed that the guitar lines end to be a lot more diverce and experimental in Jrock than a lot of western music. but what i really notice it the bass lines. Jrock really makes much more of a feature of their bass lines which is really great for me because i luuuuuuuuuve bass.
i do still litsen to music from the western world... not as much as Jrock, no way, but... the odd bit that find reall unique i'll listen to.
when i listen to music, i like to break it up... think abou all the parts involved and stuff... how they've but it together... i guess it vomes from being a musician, but... i still do it, and i never ealy coud with western music because it all just merged together, or it didn't interest me enough once i could single out spacific lines...

i think this is one of the reasons why i adore Kagrra, so much... if you listen to their music, tho you may not like it i don['t see how you could say their guitar klines are boring... and their bass lines? they're are the most amazing thing ever, Nao is my God ^.^

thank you for your input ^.^

I don't really listen to english music a lot anymore because there's no variety to their collection. It's all the same repeated. I listen mostly to Japanese, German and Spanish, and the odd Beethoven. LOL
No, seriously, I like Beethoven.

lol, there's nothign wrong with Beethoven....
i'd probably listen to the Vivaldi gloria if i could be bothered to dig it out.... hee hee, sing a long.... i really love that gloria 😌

OMIGOD!
you guys.... i'm serious.... if you need your faith t be restored in western music.... go check out Dresden Dolls.....
i just saw them live...... FRIGGING AWSOMNESS!
seriously.... they're a two piece, drums and piano... only, the drummer also sings AND plays the guitar (he's like my Yasuno 😍)
and the pianist sing's too... and they really pound the crap outta they're instruments...
their style's kinda.... berlesque?
i dunno.... but it's like a performance, and they're just.....

lol, i baught and album and got it signed by the both :D
😊

lol
yup!
just..... none of the main stream stuff......
i still adore K's choice, the birthday massacre.... and Sia
but the dresden dolls were just...... they were amazing!
lol.

hey, I just downloaded 3 songs of the Dresden Dolls, they are so cool! 👍

hee hee YAY!
lol they are.... i love her voice ^.^

I just thought it was time this thread was popped! :p
I'm sure people don't listen to only Japanese music, so, what do you listen to also? (ahemhem... can we include basically any non-Japanese music... doesn't have to be English language... because there isn't any other thread for non-Japanese music :( )

OK, I'll kick off, I've been recently listening to Soulwax, Alice Cooper, Rammstein, Ebba Gron, Amethystium, Marilyn Manson, Mississippi John Hurt (*counts the 's's* :D ), Cat Stevens, and Bullet for my Valentine.

I tried to get hold of some stuff by Mimikry, but slsk isn't forthcoming on that one... can anyone help me out?

I like Children of Bodom and Ozzy Osbourne too... and Metallica but I only really like their early stuff... and Queen is good for certain moods I find 🕺 ... and Iron Maiden I always have a soft spot for because they were the first band I ever liked. 😍

I'm guilty.. I don't really listen to a lot of 'western' music anymore. Maybe I like the occasional song.. But no favourite bands
I just don't pay much attention to the music I see on TV or hear on the radio anymore.

But... I really love Bob Marley's music :-)

Wow! I was surprised at some of the music listed on here.

Daemonette - normajean and underoath! haha wow! those guys are friends of mine. That's funny you have them listed, I don't really listen to their music though.

I listen to a variety of music, industrial, grunge rock, synth pop, new wave, heck sometimes I even listen to blues and oldies haha... industrial/metal tends to be at the top of my list though.

Two of my favorite bands are Hanzel und Gretyl and Skinny Puppy. Check out www.hanzelundgretyl.com

Amon Amarth is the greatest band ever, even better than Dir en grey.

Go here to see the best music video ever, and one of Amon Amarth best songs (though An Ancient sig of Coming Storm, is better)

Other than that just to mention a few:
Daft Punk
Cradle of Filth
Mnemic
Manowar
Mercenary
Mushroomhead
Slipknot

Thanks for the recommendation, Monstar, I'll check them out!
Better than Dir en grey has to be something worth pursuing! O_o

god..i cannot remember the last time i actually sat down and listened to an english song! oh hold on, i do remember.
i was in a friend's car with a bunch of other people, on a long trip. none of them listen to jap music so they had the radio on...and the 'song' that came on..*shudder* it was by one of those soap actors turned singer/boy band. the 'music' and the 'lyrics' almost had me jumping out the window!
gah...there is no going back for me!

I listen to anything from the 60s and 70s i.e Jimmy Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Lynnrd Skynnrd just to name a few.

As for todays music...
Placebo (of course)
Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins
Nine Inch Nails
Cradle Of Filth
SOAD
MxPx
NoFx

I have a broad music taste just as long as its rock related I will listen to it.

Wow, english music. I could take a whole day to make up a list, and still not be done. Classical, pop, rock, metal, punk, blues, jazz, country, techno, hip hop...everything. No, I'm not exaggerating. A few of my favorites:

Poison
Cinderella
My Chemical Romance
Manowar
Iron Maiden
Garth Brooks
Daft Punk
Gorillaz
Eminem
Metallica
The Used
Alan Jackson
Elvis Prestley
Trivium
The Killers

And many, many, many more, trust me....

In general, English music is rubbish [well to me]. Only certain people seem to be able to create good songs these days. Those being -
James Blunt
Franz ferdinand
Kaiser Chiefs, although I don't particulary like them.
Editors
The Hives

and don't be attracted towards these crappy X Factor/Pop idol/fame academy winners, all the people that to well here seem to make it on their own.:o
