Do you listen to american music?

All kinds of music... :p ...these days in Europe you get a full load of American music shoved in your mouth!! 😊

I love both types of music! Country and Western! :D LOL But seriously,
I listen to country, top 40, and a little Jazz. I've recently started enjoying different Japanese artists and some Okinawan music as well. One of my favorite artists is Vanessa Mae...ever heard of her? I started listening to her in '96.

YES. I really like American Rn'B. Some UK stuff is also ok, but i think by far the best stuff(and sometimes the worst :D) come from the US. Alicia Keys is just great. Also from Europe I think Craig David is really good and Tiziano Ferro also has some nice songs.

I mostly listen to Japanese music. But I do tend to listen to mood music more often. I really love the Final Fantasy music. Sarah Brightman is awesome too!

I mainly listen to Rock and R&B from America and UK, I don't really listen to Japanese music except for some. I don't really find Japanese music interesting, don't know why. Incubus is just great, they rock!
Tamio Okuda and Air are cool though.

To tell you the truth...i dont listen to any american music! and im 100% pure american..with german decent.lol. but anyway~ i dont think i have listened to american music for a LONG time.i dont even turn the radio on.the only time i hear that horrable rap,is when my friend turns it on. :i love my Dir en grey: 😊 🙂

It's all I listen to, along with European artists. I am definitely not a J-Rock or J-Pop or any kind of J-music fan, and I've heard my share, believe me.

I've been getting behind australian artists, theres alot of good stuff out here :D

My J-friends tell me Avril Lavigne (Canadienne) is huge in Japan. And yes, Japanese people listen to a lot of American music. Many of them are still stuck with the fading pretty boy bands like Back Street Boys though... And singers with pretty faces e.g. Atomic Kitten, Britney Spears & some other all girl rock bands I don't remember the names ...

As for myself, I definitely prefer U.K. and Japanese music to U.S. and Canadian music. Here in Toronto they play too much Rap and R & B!

Nonetheless, I do listen to Linkin Park, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Eminem.

As for me, I really really don't like and R'n'B. Well, I got used to R'nB because of my sister, and I admit that there are good singers ... but style. And because of that I don't listen to the radio.
In fact, except some Rock bads, I am not into american music. Most things I listen to are European Rock, pop and Punk (ska-punk) bands (french, italian, spanish, british, swedish). I also love J-pop and J-rock.

@Ewok85 : Can you recommend some, that would be interesting.

I think the reason many Japanese people mainly listen to American music is thre is a lot things from which you can get information about them such as Music Stores, TV programs, etc,,,

Have you ever been to the CD shops in Japan? Every single shop has at least popular American Music things at the times, if you go to big ones, you can get almost perfect range of American music there, but not much music from other countries except for UK.

BTW, when my Australian friend visited me we went to a rental shop and he was really surprised at the fact you can borrow CDs from them. It seemed like in Aussie, it's very unusual to borrow CDs from rentals. How about other countries?

Well, I'm a nut for Oldies music, that's stuff from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Pop, rock, the sounds from those decades were the best ever.

You had Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Ray Charles (he'll be missed), the British Invasion, Motown, so much stuff, it would take forever and a day to write it all out.

Today's music is pure crap, what with gangsta rap and the triple BBB's (Bleached Blond Bimbos) like Britney and Christina. Call me an old fogey, but the Oldies were, and still are the best!
👍

american? sometimes. I'm in seattle, so we have kexp.

Most of what i listen to comes out of either Japan, or the UK. but there are still some good punk bands out there. your YEAH YEAH YEAH's (not exactly punk, i know. but close), mars volta, what have you.

I'm definately NOT a fan of any stereotypically popular american music. This isn't out of some misguided attempt to be an iconoclast, but because i honestly believe it sucks.

I like Venessa Paradis, Destiny Child, Momoe Yamaguchi, Bobby Brown and Mandy Moore as much as I like Strauss, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Khachaturian and Mozart.

And I listen to garbage like 窶廱oe Le Taxi窶 as often as masterpieces like 窶廢ine kleine Nachtmusik窶? 窶弋he Flight of the Bumblebee窶 and 窶廰窶僊rlesienne Suite No.2: Farandole窶? For me, they are ALL THE SAME - just something GOOD to listen when I have nothing better to do.

Err... how to explain? For me CRAP and NICE are not mutually exclusive?

Yes, that's it! "Joe Le Taxi" from Vanessa Paradis, "You Make Me Sick" from Pink and even "One Day I Will Fly Away" from Nicole Kidman are indeed some nice craps to listen to.

Very Very NICE CRAPS! 👍
