Nagashima san wasn't referring to the Akita breed of dogs. He was sayin that the prefecture of Akita-ken breeds rabbits for eating.

Everyone makes mistakes. I make about 100 times as many in Japanese as you do in English when people force me to use Japanese. I was supposed to say boku and said boke today. Apparently I am now considered senile
