Disabled in Japan

The public transportation system is a lot better for disabled persons in Japan than it is the Netherlands. Also children learn how to deal with disabled persons in the elementary schools. I think it ain't that bad.... of course it can still get some improvement, but that's the same for a lot of other things in Japan and other countries.

Thats good to hear, DB, but I remember very well, that only a few years ago the theme itself came onto the table in Japan as been ignored for long, and from then on in fact, some things might have changed, so I hope at least.
It also became a theme in one of the regular japanese magazines, distributet via the embassy. I just can't find it at the moment, sorry.
Anyhow, in some cases, as described, it worked all by itself and very fine even, congrats and deep respect to those Japanese indeed!

What do you think is(are) the theme(s) we have been ignored for long? (I don't know what you mean by for long, though.)
I think ignorance is not always bliss, so your info is greatly appreciated.

Again, its not my ignorance at all, because I explained the system of the sports festival, hehe.
And as for the disabled theme, I referred to the according messages from the Japanese embassy itself.
Maybe you read more properly, before you blame?

Just bring the messages you read.
I don't know when you read them, and I don't know when and in which part of Japan you went to see the event, either. But I am really surprised at your ignorance that you said "Thats good to hear" on the simple facility issue as DB said.

They seem clear to me and as DB says, they do seem better than in the Netherlands which I find interesting.

I also note that in Japan, or at least Kyoto, they have yellow strips down sidewalks and railway staions for the blind..

I didn't see many blind in Japan, but it must certainly be a huge expense for a small amount of people so someone is serious their..

As Chi says, it seems to be getting better and less ignored now as things slowly change, and about time to..

You have to remember, what you perceive to be ignorance, and this is you, it may not be true so try to relax and enjoy the discussion without targetting people you disagree with..

Don't worry. I am not targetting the people. The people start a thread, so I post what I am interested in.

You do target, but it is all said, and you have to ask others, for example your own embassy or so. I am sure, they still have it somewhere.

Oh, by the way, the positive experience was near Yamaguchi, I really love the people there and hope very much, that other places are the same.

Again, I am all positive about this.

That's wasn't the Bob Gibson.

He used to play in a abnd at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney. I honeslty cannot remember the Jazz club name, but it was a well known socialit hang out during that time..

I'm turning 40, and I am guessing all this was happening when I was round 15 years old..

Bob Gibson was an old Father to Adam and Simon, around 55 if I remember so he may have very well passed away..

He was well known for something in the Jazz industry but my memory has faded somewhat..

I was looking at a drum set today.. Very Tempting LOL..
