Thanks for the update, it looks good. I have never heard of Tsunahiki before. Quite an enjoyable comic.

This is autobiographical. I write some fiction, but my best work tends to be true stories.

I like your perspective on things.
Loved the one-shots! The portrait you painted about your relationship with your daughter is just wonderful, you didnt try to twist the facts one bit, you said it like it is. You started off subtly conveying your imperfections (and hers), then slowly went on to say how much she meant to you.
Also dont know how to say this but the thing about simply "being" yourself as a kid and "going with the flow" then growing up and not being able to do that anymore and thinking there's something wrong with you for it really hit home (I thought I was alone). You begin to wonder if you were just smarter as a kid :joyful:
All in all, hope to see more of your work and wish you lots of sucess and happiness!

Excellent strip on the childhood funeral Nahadef. I had a similar experience, in not being able to handle attending the service of a friend who died when I was 16. I often think of him and deeply regret not going.

Thanks! I think I'll be tackling life with my daughter again in the future. I know that, in the long term, it will be of a lot of emotional value to her, and to me. Since I wrote the strips that appeared here, she's already a different person.

That was very cathartic to write. It's really clearly my best writing so far, to me. I'll write a few more casual pieces in the next weeks before trying to top this one.There are only so many times you can rip your heart out.

Most of the time, there is no punchline, just an imitation of one. I've appeared in one monthly English Tokyo magazine for a year, and it was fun. All the same, being obligated to make comics is much less fun than just making comics. I like working during the day and drawing as I might in my free time. If anyone were to throw money at me, I'd probably take it though.

I was more thinking of applying what you already have. You seem to have a ton of material, so I would pitch it as:
- content for newsletters (Gaijinpot, Metropolis, Kansai Flea Market, etc)
- Illustrations for Japanese language learning books (for example for conversations, images of items, locations, etc)
- Filling a weekly page in such magazines, since they seem to describe how some foreigners feel in Japan.

I agree, this will be her heritage. Your life experiences narrated by your illustrations are most interesting. Dont mind me saying this, but they make for the best of the stories. If its all right with you I would love to hear about how you met your wife. Maybe you could even do a special for it?

Geez, I've never even considered that. I suppose near a decade has passed since we met... The only difficulty is that our meeting happened right at that moment when I'd split it off with two other relationships that we're going nowhere. I'd have to heavily edit it all. Maybe I need to wait another decade!

Just out of curiosity, what is the humor behind Bob Loblaw's name?
Due to this problem of cultural references not translating (and lack of time) we don't watch any sitcoms or dramas. Just "reality shows" like Amazing Race, Survivor, America's Got Talent, Bachelorette, etc. And sometimes Hoarders but only in small doses. A little bit of that show goes a long way.

He is a lawyer, known for their double-talk (in America, at least). His name comes out very similar to 'blah blah blah' and is emphasized even more when he discusses his blog: Bob Loblaw's Law Blog. I think it's really hard to find funny in a second language, but it really is a clever use of language. This show is full of very smart, still fresh word play.
