Hello,

If possible, please kindly help with correct translation for the following sentence:

「わたしは いつか おまえさま いのちを たすけてもらった つるです。
もう いったん おりあげて あなたの くらしを ら くに して、さしあげたいと おもうて おりましたそれだけが こころのこり です。」

Maybe I can translate it as:

I am the crane, which live you are saved the other day.
Once I weave cloth, I decided to make your living comfortable and wanted to give it to you, but only this is regret.

But there are a few difficulties for me.

First is おまえさま. Would it keep the same meaning if i change に to が like:
おまえさま

Second is と おもうて おりました, maybe this expression may mean "was thinking". But I am not sure how I can put it into the translation.

Also, I am not sure how to translate I have used "only this", but I am not sure if it is correct meaning.

Thank you very much! :sorry:

No.

The subject(the receiver of the favor) is "I", and the target(the giver of the favor) is "you". They are not interchangeable.

"Decided" in your translation acts the roll.;-)

Yes, それだけ means "only this/that".

反 is an unit/counter to count the length of clothes. 1 tan is nearly equivalent to 30cm wide, 9m length.

(literally)I am the crane whose life was saved by you the other day.
I decided to weave one more 1 tan cloth and make your living comfortable(by selling it), but only this(=I can't weave it) is my regret.
