Just back from another documentary film from Asia.

Some Berlin-located (non german) Organisers invited me to join an Asian Woman Festival, they know me for long and were very happy to suddenly see me. I did not realise first, where I was siitting, when they almost embraced me. Three words were enough then to fall into an open door. . .

And the material piles up.

BTW, Miss van Campen does not owe you anything, everybody here knows her blog and whereabouts, with greatest respect.

True. Eyewitness does not tell the whole story.

Key of this issue is whether Japanese government/military HQ organized it or not. Japan was blamed for that reason.

Rape/brutal acts by soldiers happened everywhere during the war and even today. Many Japanese soliders were killed because of alleged war crimes in Indonesia and others after the war.

The recent study proved Imperial Japanese military HQ was innocent and even try to protect women.

Imperial Japan was NOT NAZI GERMAN.
 

Nope, but kind of Imperial Nazi Japan, still alive around the Yasukuni. . .

War is no excusion for rapes etc., as was clearly seen during our Nuernberg processes. Also murder is murder, also for scientific reasons (on people, for example).

The "recent study" is wellknown, also from which side, and already a laugh around the world, particularly in relation to innocent.

Does not impress me at all, after having seen the new documentary film "Yasukuni" and those other Taiwanese ones, asking for their people and relatives back out there, and how they were handled, as only one of the parts.
Not to mention the 100 heads competition. . .etc.

LET'S BE SURE TO STAY ON TOPIC here...but also, it would have been so nice if folks had just stated their opinion, as the poll had been originally set up for, and then see what other takes on it were...without going into debate so heavily. Alas...

ANYWAY...this is the Comfort Women issue, and no other, here, PLEASE.

In my opinion the Japaneses Government have to give compensation to them . The governments are always responsible to protect their citizens in any case .
 
I feel very sorry for these women. I guess I am very naive because ,I thought that this article was about women who wanted to be comforted, or women who could be comforted by others . Hmmmmmmmmm. In a normal nice way! Oh how wrong you were Barbiecakes. I know these women need a heartfelt apology, and are due financial compensation. So step up and give them their Justice .
 
I think this should stop and the government should hold the soldiers that do this to women. I think there should be some punishment. I would say the same for my countries soldiers. No woman should be forced to be with a man at anytime.
 
Totally agreed with you.Japan should learn from Germany.

The Government of Japan has been cooperating with the AWF in implementing the activities outlined below. The activities of the AWF show steady progress as a whole. As of now, in the Philippines, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan, 185 received the atonement money from the AWF, and some of them who received atonement money expressed their gratitude in various ways. In addition, the AWF implemented its activities in Indonesia and the Netherlands as well. The Government of Japan will continue its effort to seek the understanding from the Governments and authorities and other parties of the countries and regions concerned with regard to the activities of the AWF.
 
This Taiwanese old man is testifying about comfort women, and obviously the testimony he is giving is not even remotely close to the claims that some former comfort women are making (or others are making on their behalf

I personally believed that many of the comfort women were coerced, but at the same time I also believed that some, if not many, voluntarily attended these sort of facilities. It's not that I'm doubting that they were abused...I think many, if not all, were abused, but prostitution was not kept in check at that time period, especially during a war that caused LOTS of poverty for women "used" from most of those countries.

The Japanese government only owes compensation for people that can prove they were coerced or attended a camp that was verified to be a "comfort camp"...and only the generation of women that actually participated in this, not their decendants or anything. I read some claims of people demanding compensation for their children as well and I don't think that sort of compensation is necessary.
