I'm pretty certain that all the reasons are covered previously in the thread itself, in fact there isn't really much of the thread that doesn't reinforce the fact that it's a bad idea.

I think tattoos boil down to "pretty things" as silly as this may sound. It's true that if I see a tattoo that reads "I R SMRAT" I would cringe because it is not properly spelt out, but most people do it because the kanji (plural) themselves are like a work of art.

Something among those lines. I don't see why such a big deal is done about the (english) grammatical sense of that sentence. I find it perfectly clear, perhaps too pompous or poetic like Mike inadvertedly suggested.

I don't find it pompous or poetic. I find it a meaningless attempt at profundity. I'm sure it would sound great if stoned or drunk, but as I happen to be sober at the moment I just don't get it.

FYI, handy jisyo says 同意 works for 中文, but not 同感... I'm not sure about what I wrote, either, 因為我不會說中文

I knew that. 同感 was the Japanese response. 我同意 was the Chinese response. I checked on it too.

By the way, the OP did come back and read the thread, just so you know. He didn't just post and hightail it. He actually did respond, too (although it was the third post).

wow I don't even know where to begin.... Lets see... Oh ok I'm sorry I did not relize it had to make sense to everyone else in the the world... huh.. For me it fits perfect, I'm bi-polar so for ME it makes sense nuff said... I don't think I have to explain my out look on life, this is a forum for Kanji. Remember perception is reality, what you believe to be true is true... No one can change that.

Thanks to all that made post regarding the corrections. I see that is hard to make a word pural in Kanji. I choose the word "mirrors" for two reasons one being that I had a hard time finding the Kanji for "is".

But I have decided to get a buddhist proverb tattooed on my arms "All that is visible is empty." I hope this makes more sense for all of you (That was sarcasm in case anyone didn't perceive it that way) I still plan on getting "Life is Pain" or "Life mirrors pain"

I think your tatoo would be 色即是空, for "All that is visible is empty.", right?
Or maybe 諸行無常, impermanence.

色即是空 sounds a bit nihilistic, but it is nice if you keep in mind that 空即是色 is the 2nd sentence.
