Can Someone please confirm my translation, urgent

I received this message from my tutor this morning, can someone please properly translate it for me. I think I understand what it is saying, and if so it's not good. Can someone just confirm it?

konnichi wa ben san to dan san. Kyo wa nihongo no resson ga arimasen. Watashi no akachan wa byoki da kara, canceru shimasu. Gomen nasai. Sensei.

Yes I thought that, but by this line is he actually telling me she has cancer and doesn't know the actual word for it? Watashi no akachan wa byoki da kara, canceru shimasu.

kyanseru means cancel.
gan is cancer.
The teacher is just saying that they are cancelling the lesson. Nobody has cancer.

(I kind of think its funny that the teacher probably used that word to make it easier for you to understand but ended up making you think their baby had cancer. )

If you look at the sentence you can see that canceru meaning cancer wouldn't make any sense.

"Watashi no akachan wa byoki da kara, canceru shimasu"
Because my baby is sick she is doing cancer.
Because my baby is sick I am cancelling the lesson.
