Is this a joke?

How will this "foster innovation"?

The UK is considering reverting to the imperial system, the weight and measurement system that uses pounds and ounces, as part of it's efforts to "capitalise on the freedoms from Brexit," according to the British government. In statement issued Thursday, the UK said thousands of European Union laws that the UK retained after Brexit "will be scrutinised by the Government to ensure they are helping the UK to thrive as a modern, dynamic, independent country and foster innovation across the British economy."

Maybe they'll get rid of their decimalized currency, too, and go back to what it once was.

We've managed to operate in both systems for many decades now. Ever since President Carter's Communist backed efforts to adopt the metric system were thwarted in the 1970s. 😆 So we use non-metric for day to day life but metric in academic and scientific settings.

Heart sinks. Definitely a step backward. One of the reasons Japan is stagnating is that too many people in charge have Showa era mentalities and my country is going the same way.

mdchachi - Although the aeronautical industry has a soft spot for imperial units.

Well, it is a very exclusive club, not that it's worth being prideful about

Wow. I've been wondering if we'll ever see the metric system used in the US, since it makes way more sense and practically the entire world uses it, not to mention that one time we blew 327 million dollars on a failed space mission because of a failed conversion... and now the UK wants to regress?? Y'all alright over there??
