Hi,
I'm a student in an English speaking school and I've been given a massive list of reading to do during the summer. However, I'm going back to Japan and I really need to know where i can find a library near Yokohama with a well stocked English section.
Thank You!

You can check if the book you're looking for is available in libraries in Yokohama-shi.
Input the keyword or the title of the book, hit the search button.
Then the list of the related books are shown (somehow all the titles are in Japanese fonts even though they are in alphabets).
Then click the book, and you can see in which library it is available.
(Name of the library is shown under ツ焦?窶伉?ナ?テ at the very bottom of the page.)

This is just an example - I've searched "The Wind in the Willows" and click one of the books listed.
You can "reserve" it, it seems, but it says 窶能窶禿アツ絶? 2, which means (I guess) already two persons reserved this book before me.

I believe that it is also possible to visit one of the libraries, ask them to have the books in other libraries sent to the one you're visiting.

Here is the Guide Map - it says there are currently 18 libraries in Yokohama-shi.

Hi nectarine!

Probably the only choice you have in Yokohama is the Yokohama City Central Library. I don't know how many books they have in English. Since many public library systems are now computerized, it should be easy for you to search for books of your choice and make reservations.

You can also check out the public libraries in Tokyo. The biggest collection is found in the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Library. Other libraries maintain foreign book collections, though small but with some major titles by famous authors.

It has been long ago, but there used to be an American library near Shibakoen, Tokyo. I've tried to find it with Google but failed, so it probably is gone by now.
Tokyo American Club also has a library, but membership is required.

I found a Web page offering info on English books in Tokyo libraries here:
English多読は図書館で
There is also the Internet Public Library:

Hope it helps! 🙂

British council may also be your choice, but you can find the right answer after you show the massive list. (I am afraid it is less likely that you will get everything you want here, though)
