Hi every1 !!
I'm struggling as what to buy to this Japanese girl that I have been meeting in the last 2months or so,,,,, she knows I like her but she said that she consider me as a friend for now and she want some more time to konw me more.....
She is here in Australia, so my first qustion do you think a Japanese gift would be better or a non-Japanese ?
I thought of golded necklace with her name both in English and Japanese....... but maybe that its too early since we still officially friends....and Idont want to push it so much so to speakkkkk....what do you think?
The Last part of my question is are Japanese girls(she is 25) like gold?

ありがと

WOW mate....necklaces are a no-no if you're just friends :-)...maybe a nice kawaii looking teddybear or something like that is more appropriate...but the girl's 25...hmm tough one hehe...let's hear out the other ones also :haihai:

I'd pin a biiiiig yes on that.

Something cute and quintessentially Australian would be what I suggest. Something that she can look at later on in life and remember you and her time here. What exactly im not sure... if you go the jewelry route how about some opal? Thats always nice.

Something cute as rocklee said. My japanese friend who was a girl said that all japanese girls like chocolates and a red rose, i mean you could give her that aswell .

I don't know, might be something for the nice people out there with japanese spouses to ask.... :p

:haihai: good idea
where are they does life get that busy when you married to Japanese girl? :D

Like gold in what sense? Cold & inanimate? No, they are usually warm & alive. :D

How well do you know her? Do you know her hobbies or interests? Many young J-women are somewhat on the spoiled with having everything available, but some are more down to earth and may not like luxury items...what is available in your country that interests her? Perhaps something that can be found only in your country that piques her interest may be a better gift than anything made out of gold...
remember, not all that glitters is gold....think about her interests before buying anything overly lavish or spendy, because that may set an unwanted precedence.... :)

How Bout.....

EARRINGS?? Maybe the shape of Austrailia, or kangaroos, or kowala bears? They don't cost a whole lot and she will think of your country and you when she puts them on. Or
something "MAGICAL" to do with the Aboriginal tribes? A
NERF boomerang that won't take you head off when it comes back! Take her on a sight-seeing tour in the outback, maybe camp out in a tent? Go slow mate, don't want to scare her off! Good luck!

Frank

I found that many of my Japanese (the girls anyway) friends don't care for gold. They seem to like silver a lot more. However, you two are just friends so I would say buy her a teddy bear (kowala might be better since you are in Austrailia).

Remember if the gift comes from the heart it will be worth more than all the gold and silver in the world.

Yes, justin is right.Silver/platinum are popular here.
Gold is worn by older women and favored by the chinpillas(a term for the younger, low rank members of the Japanese mafia).

If you think a teddy bear is not suitable for a 25 year old lady, how about a small bottle of perfume? Flowers are fine, too. It's one of the most popular item as a gift.Just choose something that will agree to her personality.

I agree that giving her a jewelry is still early in this stage. Here in Japan, gift giving is a serious business. We give gifts that we think will not put the receiving end in an akward or difficult situation.

cheers

I know her for about 2 months now and as for (spoiled) I think she passed this stage she窶冱 26 soon so adult soon haha窶ヲ.Any Australian thing would be great. I will get a gift that has Australian features窶ヲ..

Frank D. White.. You a legend thanks for the nice advise(Go slow mate, don't want to scare her off! Good luck) but you know what, I don't want to be friend only. I窶冦 taken it slow and I hinted that I do like her窶ヲ now after I read all the comments I think I will go with silver, flower, chocolate窶ヲ.as for (Aboriginal tribes) I think I will stay away from that窶ヲ..also camp and tent thing is too early..
Thanks you again..

Justin
Thanks!! Yes, no gold I noticed she窶冱 wearing silver necklace, and I never seen a young Japanese girl wearing a gold窶ヲ.
And yes nice words man (gift comes from the heart it will be worth more than all the gold and silver in the world) I think I will write something like this in my birthday cart窶ヲ.

Yes, Will stay away from gold as I mentioned earlier. And no I don't think teddy bear is a suitable thing for her窶ヲAnd oh thanks for insider information about giving gift in Japan窶ヲ so now I窶冦 thinking of a bottle of perfume (mind you I haven窶冲 seen her wearing perfume before)窶ヲand necklace(silver) with Australian ICON and her name in Japanese(Hirigana)

so I will go for silver necklace + perfume(Issey Miyake).. yeah sound good?

Flowers are always nice, but I agree with many of the others.
Giving something that suits her interests such as cds or books might work.

Taking her to dinner or a movie can be lovely as well. If you think she is missing Japan, take her to a Japanese restaurant.

Anyways, she is a lucky girl to have you as a friend!!!
Good luck! 📣
