China's capitalism is command capitalism rather than free-market capitalism and it has its merits. Even the people who went to Davos this week say free-market capitalism is deeply flawaed. Stay tuned.
Tokoro de, loaning $100 billion to the IMF was probably the only smart thing, albeit unwitting, that Aso has done. That money, which comes from Japan's excess foreign reserve--NOT taxes, was being eyed by the LDP to create a sovereign hedge fund--almost certainly a money losing deal since the LDP would be involved. By loaning it to the IMF, it's removed from the LDP's clutches. Phewww.
