Boycott American Airlines and tell them about it.
American Airlines should take the ツ"Americanツ" out of it's name. They are not American at all. In fact they appear to be using a really dirty underhanded trick against ツ"realツ" American men and women that are serving overseas.
Quick explanation – the other week I flew on American Airlines from my home base in Japan to Washington DC. No problem. On my return trip, the flight out of DC was overbooked. All of a sudden they decided to ask for a copy of my ツ"orders.ツ"
With electronic ticketing, Common Access ID Cards throughout the services, and government travel credit cards with electronic payment, hardly anyone carries ツ"paper ordersツ" anymore.
So it's Saturday morning in DC, Saturday night at my home base, and all of a sudden these guys want paper orders. I had them call SATO which they know does all the travel arrangements for DOD, who told them all I need is my passport and ID, which I had with me. Even later the Government Services Agency, which holds the contract for federal travel told them I didn't need orders.
American Airlines refused to let me on my flight home. Luckily SATO was able to book me on another airline, which brought me back to the Forward Deployed Naval Forces that I'm assigned to.
This appears to be a selected question they ask of service members only when flights are overbooked.
I'm asking you to help start a grassroots boycott of American Airlines until they decide to treat all American Service members right. Pass this along and show your support.
