We all heard about 2012.

So many Explanations and Stories.

I've heard stories about aliens, about astrology, about changing the
the rhythm of time, Heaven on Earth, energies, other dimensions,
bad-stuff-happening, galactic-astrological-synchronizations, changes
in calenders, parties, and so many contradicting,
not-really-scientific, not-always-rational data.

I seek to explain the phenomenon, without stubborn rhetoric, without
any vague concepts, and without any energy/aliens / dimensional /
other-unproven-data (or at least considered unproven).

Having said that, I'll try to explain the 2012 phenomenon or the
the phenomenon of 2012 obsession.

1.
My first argument:
Numbers affect people.

People are charmed, for example, by certain numbers and are afraid,
from other numbers, for a variety of reasons.
I don't claim everyone is charmed and afraid by numbers, but enough
people do, so on the global-scale, numbers do affect people, not
necessarily in the same manner.
(The number X can charm one person, deter another, and not affect
another two people, in a group of 4, for example).
I find it easy to be charmed by
12.21.2012
or
13.0.0.0.0
of the Mayan calendar,
And I am charmed by the fact they are both on the same day.

But I would like to focus more on dates and numbers that make people fear.
Some dates frighten some of us:
9.11.2001
or
9.1.1939

Some numbers that might frighten a Christian:
666
13
Or Jews:
6,000,000

2.
My second argument:
The 9 - 11 combination is problematic enough to become a date
of destruction.
(Sounds strange, but read it through).

I don't ask here to explain this, just to show this, but I'll try to
explain nonetheless.
One possible explanation is the common characteristic of 9 and 11.
They are both very close to 10, which is common, so
their combination emphasizes this.
10 is an extraordinary number for the human psyche and usually
symbolizes wholeness and completeness and perfection, not for a
mystical, or a numerological, or a really-stupid reason, but because
we have 10 fingers, and they are the base of our counting system, and
10 symbolizes the completeness of the counting, the 10 fingers, and
the 10 digits.
Those of us who look for grades will see perfection in 10 since it
is the perfect grade.
Those of us who look for completeness in sexuality and the merging
of the opposites, will also see in 10 completeness, as 1 is the male
organ, 0 is the female organ, and 10 is their combination in one
complete whole perfect unity.
Those of us with religious upbringing can see 10 in the 10
commandments and other important symbols.
Symbolic connections between 9 and 11 are exactly what moves away
from that wholeness and emphasizes the distinction from wholeness.
You might think I'm only talking about the WTC 9/11 case, but you'll
understand soon.

I don't think there has to be a cosmic force to make more destructions
on dates with 9 and 11, but somehow this combination affects enough
people for us to have more on such dates.
Maybe the explanation I gave for why this could happen doesn't
convince me, but this is not the point. The point is that it is like
that, statistically, as we'll see in some detailed examples.
For simplicity, I'll use both the European style of writing dates -
day. month. Year - E - and the North-American style - month. day. Year - U.

You might think that finding 9's and 11's in the 20th century is not
so hard, but remember, the 20th century was the most bloody of them
all, which strengthens my theory.

Do you see any combinations between 9 and 11 on the following dates?
(remember, the mind reads digits one by one...)

WTC destruction:
9.11.2001 U

Crystal night, the first major violent breakout before the holocaust,
became a memory of a day of destruction:
9.11.1938 E

WW2:
9.1.1939 U

Murder of Kennedy:
22.11.1963 E

Murder of Gandhi:
30.1.1938 E

Murder of Israel's prime minister, Rabin:
4.11.1995 E

Attempted murder of Jordanian King, King Hussein and the start of
Black September:
9.1.1970 U

Gulf War:
1.15.1991 U
15.1.1991 E

And there's more, but I think the list is enough.

Anyone who disagrees, and thinks I'm not convincing enough, is welcome
to present another pair of numbers, whose combination appears in so
many dates that became memories of destruction, and I think it is fair
to request that at least one of the numbers in the pair will be a
2-digit-number.
(Don't tell me 1 and 9, OK ?)

I don't think, and I don't claim that this is total.
You have many dates with 9 and 11 without any problem, and you also
have destructions on other dates, but this is still a statistical
abnormality.

I'll soon show how the 9-11 combination became a destruction-date in
more than the Western calendar to prove my point.
Before that, I'd like to talk a little about the American emergency
phone number
911

We usually think of it as
dial nine-one-one
But originally it was promoted as
dial nine-eleven.
A lot of people complained "they can't find the eleven", so they
changed the way they say it.
So originally, the 9-11 combination also appeared in emergency cases.
Police, Fire Department, Medical help, all in one number.
And when do you call?
When you are more away from the feeling or delusion that everything is
complete and perfect.
So once again, the 9-11 combination is connected in many persons'
minds with "something bad is happening".

You can also see something interesting with Roman numerations.
9 - IX
11 - XI
Again showing that the human mind sees them as "one away from 10",
while X is the most symmetric of all the Roman numerals (both
top-bottom and right-left symmetries, and 90 degrees rotation symmetry
if it's a "perfect" X.), and it's the only letter used (I, V,X, L,C, D,M)
that you can't write in one time without lifting the pen or going over
the same line twice, making it more "special" for the mind, two
symmetrical lines meeting each other in the middle.

Now I'll move to another calendar:
The Hebrew Year of Judaism. One of the oldest calendars still in use.
It goes both by the sun and by the moon, making itself more accurate
than the Western calendar, or the Muslim one, as far as "making the
year accurate and on time" goes.

Unlike other calendars and traditions, the Jews somehow combined all
their major destruction stories, to one date that symbolizes the destruction
The Ninth of AV.
While AV is the 11th month of the Hebrew year.
(The Hebrew calendar/calendars have several new-years, but the most
common, and the only one used until today, is the one who starts the
the year with a holiday called "The head of the year", in which the digit
of the years increases by one, and is in a month (always a new-moon
day) who is always 2 months after AV, and basically 10 months before
AV, making AV the 11th month, in a 12 months year, eventually making
the 9th of AV, as the 9th of the 11th Month.)

This is a list of destructions that are associated with that date, some
of them are made so by formal Jewish religious law, some are
historically documented, some are of an unknown enough source, and
even if some of it is made up (by others, of course, not by me), it
still shows that there's a tendency of the mind to connect
destructions with 9-11-combination-dates:

The fall of the first temple.
(this in the bible appears in 2 places, one as 7th of AV, the other as
10th of AV, but formal Judaism is considering it as 9th of Av, and
this is the official day of fasting and mourning about it, which is
also obligatory for religious Jews).

The fall of the second temple.

Destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans

Expulsion of Jews from Spain
1942
(A major event in Jewish history, highly documented).

Roman Jews are put in ghettos in Rome.
1555

Expulsion from England and in another year, from France.

First World War
1914
(Calculated by the date Germany declared war on Russia, and it became
a world war, WW1).

The Jews also believe that in the bible, the Hebrews travelled for 40
years in the desert, instead of going straight into their Promised
Land, because God punished them for some sin, called "the sin
of the spies", and that punishment is considered to have taken place
on the Ninth of Av, as well as all the others.

So what do we see?
Nowadays, the 9-11 combination has become a date that symbolizes
destruction in more than one calendar.

(There's more symmetry between the 9-11's of the Western and Hebrew
calenders main destruction date - the fall of The Temple and the fall
of The Towers. Both in a mythological city - Jerusalem is the most
the mythological city for the Jewish people and NYC is deeply connected
to the American Dream, with its Statue of Liberty, welcoming the
immigrants, as well as possessing other American-Dream-Symbols, and
both destructions are on a 9-11 date in the year).

I can't be sure you're convinced why this is happening.
But it does.
Even if some of those destructions, or those dates, are pure
accidents, it causes more fear of those dates eventually.
And again, I'm not saying all destructions are on those dates. I don't
know the dates of the atomic bombing of Japan in the Japanese
calendar, but I believe there's enough data to see that something is
going on.
And this finally concludes the second argument.

3.
My third argument:
Starting from 2012, we have much fewer dates with 9-11 combinations in
the Western calendar (which is the most important and globally used
calender).

In the 20th century, we had the most dates with such a combination.
At the beginning of the 21st, we have a little less.
Ever since 2012, the years don't give us any 11 at all, and we got a 9
in the years only once every 10 years, and in the 2090s which resulted
in 19 years with a 9 in the year, in all the century, compared to 100
years with a 9, in the 20th century.

So:
I.
If a combination between a 9 and an 11 causes destruction, then we'll
have fewer destructions.
II.
If such a combination makes people afraid, then we have fewer reasons
to fear.
III.
If you think such dates don't mean anything at all, then it wouldn't
get any worse, not because of this anyway.
IV.
If enough extreme people go crazy, especially on such dates, then they
have fewer reasons to go crazy.

4.
My fourth argument:
All the spiritual, cultural, pseudo-scientific interest around the
change of 2012 is because of the 9-11 symbolism I showed.

Check out the date given to mark the change:
12.21.2012 U
21.12.2012 E

The year:
2012
Right after 2011, and shortly after 2009, just as they disappear from
the digits of the years.
The Month:
December
The 12th month, right after the 11th month and shortly after
September, just as they disappear from the digits of the months.
The day
21
Not one digit like a 9
Not 1X like an 11
not 20 like 9 + 11
The 21st day of the 12th month of the only year with a 12 in its
digits, in the 21st Century.
So much charm, so much completeness, and wholeness, and symmetry, and
even perfection. You got the 1 and 0 of the 10, next to each other.
You got nothing to remind of the "away from completeness" on this
date. Nothing to remind you of the 9-11 combinations.
no 9
12 and 21
right before 2013
and right before Christmas (never 9 or 11 on Christmas in the
day. month duo)
or 13.0.0.0.0
you got 12, 13, and 21. All can be seen as "going away from 11".
This is truly a nice charming date which symbolizes a drastic change
from a period we had many 9-11 combinations in the Western calendar
to a period with much, much less.

One of the things 2012 theorists talk about is the subject of time,
the change of time, and the change of time perception. They
all fail to understand that what will really happen is that time will affect us differently as far as
dates go. This is the expected change
in our "connection with time".
Time will be much less frightening and much less dangerous.

One last thing.
If somehow I gave you a reason to think the coming 2009 and 2011 will
be horrible, this is not necessarily what I think. 1909 and 1911 were
not so nice as years, but certainly not the worst of the 20th century.
(We had more 9-11 combos in any year of the 20th century than is
expected in 2009 and 2011)
And even so, by 2013, it will be behind us.

I'd be more than happy to get interesting remarks, as long as they are
to the point about my theory.

Some more calculations for those interested:
I defined a "charming date" as a date made of only 3 digits (or less).
Like:
1.1.2000
1.2.2000
2.2.2000 (two digits)
and many more in 2000
and also
so much many
in
2001-2012
like
X.X.200X
10.10.2010
11.11.2011
12.12.2012

you got here 13 years with a lot of "charming dates", and even 13
years in a row, with a date in each year, with a certain number, that
appears both in the day, in the month, in the year, and a "charming
date".

Now, what happens in 2010-2012?
This is very special.
All "charming dates" in these 3 years are with the same 3 digits: 0,1,2
Actually, we get 120 "charming dates" in these years, all with the
same 3 digits, and with no other "charming date" in the middle which
is made of a different combination of 3 digits.
(If you can't see why this doesn't happen in 2000-2002, or in
2020-2022, think of 3.3.2000 or 4.4.2022.)
All this period of 2000-2012, is with the most charm in numbers
possible since we started counting.
2100-2102 is the only next time in the coming millennium with 120
"charming dates in a row all from the same 3 digits". (you need 3
years in a row, all with the same 3 digits that you are talking about,
and all 3 digits appearing in all 3 years)
And when does the charm "end" this time?
22.12.2012
This is the last of those 120 "charming dates". Right next to the
famous 21.12.2012 to whom the change of time is usually attributed.
(why 120 dates? think of 1.1.2010, 2.1.2010, 10.1.2010, 11.1.2010,
12.1.2010 and 20th,21st and,22nd of that month. 8 such "charming
dates" in January alone. Now switch the month to 2,10,11 or 12, and we
get 5 such months, which gives us a total of 40 such dates in the
year, and another 40 in each of the following years, resulting in a
total of 120).
After that, not only will time frighten us less, it will also charm us
less, making us overall less affected by time and more "free" from it.
I also guess that all this 2012 obsession nowadays is strongly
connected to the fact that "This is the time that dates have charmed
us more than ever before". And after 2012, these kinds of obsessions
will cool down, as Time charms us less and less or frighten us with a
9-11 combo, less and less.

I always considered 21.12.2012 to be such a beautiful date, but now it
It seems to be more like a beautiful period of time.
So many dates, in 3 years, all with the same digits of 21.12.2012.

After filling our minds with obsessions about that date, I guess
something like this might happen to us in 2010:
"so many dates seem like 21.12.2012. What's going on ?"

And in 2013, the process is over.
2013 might appeal to the eye, consisting of 0,1,2,3, but these are 4
digits, not 3, and therefore no more "charming dates" until 2020,
(again, if this is how we define charm), and not a huge amount of them
until 2100-2102, and nothing quite like the charm of 2000-2012, the
the biggest charm ever, past and future.
(you got some good charm in 1000-1012, but no "three years period of
the 'same' charm").
(3000-3013 don't give you so much charm, 2 is much more common than 3
in the days and the months, even though 3 is just a little more in
the days than the 0, and we're gonna have some good charm in
2131-2133, 2311-2313, 3121-3123 and 3211-3213
(days and months with 0 and 3: days: 3,10,13,20,23,30,31, months: 3, 10),

The bottom line:
Nothing like this 2000-2012 charm since ever we can really remember,
and nothing like we can predict in any sense of future, and with
nothing even coming close until 2100-2102.
For all reasons mentioned, our time is the perfect
"time-dates-obsession-period".

My astrologist says numerology is bunk.

to mike:
I also think so, and I pretty much think astrology is bunk, but this is not numerology.

What you're saying sound like : "Today i ate 10 potatoes . If i had eaten 9 or 11 potatoes, that would have meant the end of the world !! "

Come on now , if you think about it , you are just playing with numbers .
The human fate is not written with numbers .

Ray:
It may sound like this, but this is not what I mean.
I know this not an easy subjects, and some of my proofs are weaker than others, but I'll give you a small summary:
1.
On the global scale, much more destructions are happening on dates with a 9/11 combo. I don't have to give you a scientific reason, I can just show you the statistics, and again, if any one don't agree with my statistics, face my challenge, give me a pair of two numbers, one of them at least with two digits, that their combination appears in so many dates of destruction, and on more than one "normal and used" calender.
Even if we don't agree why this happens, the numbers don't lie. it does happen.
I offer one possible reason, only for expressing my ideas on that, so even if you don't agree with my "reasons", you should still accept the fact.
2.
I don't like numerology so much, but to say that 10 is considered quite perfect and nice, is quite obvious to any one, and I even added a few reasons to show why it could be like that, and also showed as much as I can how the human mind sees the 9/11-combo as "SO NOT 10".
not every time it happens there destruction, most of the times nothing happens, but if something happens, this is usually in a 9/11 combo, and I'm only talking about human created destruction. Floods and Earthquakes shouldn't be affected too much by the way numbers affect men,
(Even if there's a butterfly effect, it's almost never in the same day).
Why could this be ?
If the combo irritates some people, for example, then the global stress on such a day is bigger, and the potential for a "critical mass of stress for a violent outburst" of an individual is bigger.
Doesn't happen every time, but happens enough.
Maybe this is the reason.
But there's also an accumulating effect.
If there are already many such dates, people are more notice, consciously or not, that something bad can happen of these date, thus making them more stressed.
Nowadays the 9/11 combo in Language become a symbol of destruction, so it makes us more stressed to see it (on the collective scale), and also, our governments are extra watchful, on such dates, thus more likely to prevent a 9/11-combo-disaster,
get it ?
don't think of why this 9/11 think happens if you disagree with my explanation.
T is again not the issue here, just that it happens, and even that is not the issue, because the issue is that since the end of 2012, we'll have much less potential "bad dates", and also much less "charming dates", and overall, maybe, a less affect of time on us.
That's it for.
Do ask me if you have more questions.

We all heard about 2012.
So many Explanations and Stories.
and that is exactly what they are, stories.
1.
My first argument:
Numbers affect people.
People are charmed, for example, by certain numbers, and are afraid,
from other numbers, for a variety of reasons.
It boils down to one thing only, it is called superstition.

One possible explanation, is the common characteristic of 9 and 11.
They are both very close to 10, and this is what is common, and so
their combination emphasizes this.
As whole number go, they can't get much closer.

Those of us who look for grades will see a perfection in 10, since it
is the perfect grade.
Then why are exams giving in percentage?

Those of us who look for completeness in sexuality, and in the merging
of the opposites, will also see in 10 completeness, as 1 is the male
organ, 0 is the female organ, and 10 is their combination in one
complete whole perfect unity.
That is binary, not decimal. Ying and Yang, male and female, good and eveil all bouls down to binary, not base 10.

Maybe the explanation I gave for why this could happen doesn't
convince, but this is not the point, the point is that it is like
that, statistically, as we'll see in some detailed examples.
For simplicity, I'll use both the European style of writing dates -
day.month.year - E - and the North-American style - month.day.year - U.
In other words you are going to chop and change to fit your hypothosis.

You might think that finding 9's and 11's in the 20th century is not
so hard, but remember, the 20th century was the most bloody of them
all, which strengthens my theory.
Please explain why, beacause as far as I can see it currently is conincidence.

Do you see any combinations between 9 and 11 in the following dates ?
(remember the mind reads digits one by one...)
WTC destruction:
9.11.2001 U
Crystal night, first major violent breakout before the holocaust,
became a memory of a day of destruction:
9.11.1938 E
WW2:
9.1.1939 U
Murder of Kennedy:
22.11.1963 E
Murder of Gandhi:
30.1.1938 E
Murder of Israel's prime minster, Rabin:
4.11.1995 E
Attempted murder of Jordanian King, King Hussein and the start of
Black September:
9.1.1970 U
Gulf War:
1.15.1991 U
15.1.1991 E
And there's more, but I think the list is enough.
Wow, I'm conviced after all what are the chnces of 11 and 9 coming togther so often in the 20th century(1901-2000). Just imagine ever September, January, all of 1911, you might get the jist.

Anyone who disagrees, and thinks I'm not convincing enough, is welcome
to present another pair of numbers, whose combination appears in so
many dates that became memories of destruction, and I think it is fair
to request that at least one of the numbers in the pair will be a
2-digit-number.
Grasping at straws are we?

(Don't tell me 1 and 9, OK ?)
I don't think, and I don't claim, that this is total.
You have many dates with 9 and 11 without any problem, and you also
have destructions in other dates, but this is still a statistical
abnormality.
not in the 20th century it isn't.

.. more numerology and coincidence stuff

Okay, let us deal with this in a more rational way.
One this is pandering to coincidence and what is known as the Law of truly large numbers
Secondly, by using statistics on specific numbers you can find any "evidence" you wish for any number you are feeling particularly paranoid about. The most famous being the number 13
Thirdly, if you think that a number, or combination of numbers is bad luck then you will put any number of what may be every day occurence of bad luck down to that number, because it happened on that day. If it had happened on any other day then you wouldn't have put it down to the unlucky or lucky number, it just happened.
Forthly: and possibly the most important, cite research (preferably peer reviewed), sources, links( again to objective sites, not numerolgy sites and the such) and mybe we might take it a bit more seriously.

On the global scale, much more destructions are happening on dates with a 9/11 combo.

Ok ,i will put it simply . Here is what you are doing :

9
11

11 + 9 = 20
11 - 9 = 2
11 x 9 = 99
9 x 9 = 81
11 x11= 121
etc...

Then , you immediately have some numbers and so you use them however you want (doing math calculations or not) to create more other numbers and demonstrate them however you want .
Even though i don't have much historic knowledge , i am sure that there are thousands of historic facts (even disasters) that don't conclude those numbers .You just present an extremely small percentage of facts comparing to the amount of the others .

We all heard about 2012.

So many Explanations and Stories.
To be totally honest, I haven't heard a thing. What is it you are driving at?

Oh, and which accepted calendar are you going by? Gregorian or proleptic Gregorian (of which there is more than one type)? Or any of these:

P.S.
Gee, didja know if you fold a U.S. $20 bill the right way, you can see the Twin Towers in ruins? Oooooooooooooooh. It got me on the edge of my seat!

I thought this thread was going to be about the London Olympics LOL 😊

I haven't heard of anything to do with 2012.

I am actually impressed that the OP took the time to write all of that, unfortunately for him I found it too boring after 2 paragraphs to keep reading.

This reminds me of that one South Park episode where Cartman made a similar kind of goofy argument to explain the government cover-up of 9-11 and Kyle's responsibility. Funny stuff.

Cartman:Remember that there are in fact two towers. Two minus one is one; one one - 11; two minus one is one; one one, and there are nine members on Silverstein's board of directors. That's nine-one-one. Nine-eleven. And take 2 - 1 + 9/11 and you get 12, which leads us all to the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. [click. Kyle now appears superimposed on the 9/11 picture already onscreen].Kyle!
Twelve contains the numbers one and two, just like the toilet yesterday where somebody went number two instead of number one! And one and two with 911 and you get 914! Drop the 4 and it's 91! Exactly the score Kyle got on his spelling test twelve days after 9/11!

Quoted for truth. :-D

I start with the first reply, which is the longest
The rest of the replies are afterwords.

To Mycernius:
Thanks for your reply.
As for the point raised:
> and that is exactly what they are, stories.
Yes, I never said anything more. I also try to show why they are so many stories about the same time, all connected to time somehow, change of time, affect of calenders on us, complaints against the Western calendar and so forth.
I try to show why so much obsession is going on about it in this period of time and these aspects.
> It boils down to one thing only. It is called superstition.
So, you think that if numbers affect us, it is only by how much importance we give them or were told to give them.
This shows that numbers affect people.
They don't affect nature.
This period of 2000-2012 can cause so much effect of time-related-ideas to appear, and I try to show why.
If anything happened in 2012, it would be because someone decides to do something, not because numbers affect nature directly. I wouldn't expect a high chance of a natural disaster, and I guess the day itself will prove my point, as it will be the time all theories about it are challenged.
Nothing special will probably happen naturally, maybe some people or many people will try to do something on that day because of its accepted importance,
which will show my case:
Number affect people. They don't affect (directly) nature.
Calenders are made according to nature in a way that doesn't cause or predict natural disasters but in a way that can cause some people to feel something sometimes.
> As the whole number go, they can't get much closer.: roll eyes:
Yes, of course, but we use whole numbers when counting time, so the closest you can get to 10 (in days and months and years, not in hours) is with 9 or 11.
There are other reasons why the mind could see 9 & 11 as exactly 1 an away from 10.
The concepts of fingers are before the concept of 9.
When you learn to adjust numbers and fingers, the symbol for 10 is older than 9-fingers. The child saw the 10-fingers much more and learned to recognize them before the concept of 9 / 9-fingers has entered his mind.
The same goes for 11, which is much later as a symbol, and also makes you think about numbers as "more than just 10 of them", making 11 the one next to the special-if-only-by-fingers 10.
This is how Roman numerals see it.
9 - IX
11 - XI
(* edited the typo of 10 instead of 11 *)
You must understand X before IX or XI in this system, and you always read them or write them, as 10-1 and 10+1, at least symbolically, if not consciously, every time you meet them.
The same goes for 4,5,6 as being IV, V, VI, again according to the fingers analogy.
> Then why are exams giving in percentage?
This is an abstraction.
You can still see in the Olympics the perfect as 10 in so many sports, and even if some sport might see the score as 18 (golf ?) or other perfect scores, the most common perfect score/grade in all the fields is 10.
When you get the perfect grade in percentage, you get 100, which is with a 10 inside, not just the digits of 10, but all of them, and only them, and in the same order...
Many exams are given on a 10-scale, maybe less in your country, depending on how much space between grades you actually need. (The SAT goes exactly in the opposite direction).
When guys grade girls in movies and generally, they almost always refer to a perfect concept of 10.
> That is binary, not decimal. Ying and Yang, male and female, good and evil, all boils down to binary, not base 10.
You got something here. Binary symbolism (and another yin/yang-analogies) is the most basic for a sexual analogy of 1 as the male organ and 0 as the female. At the same time, the digits are direct symbols of other organs, fingers.
But a symbol is a symbol.
And those interested in such sexual symbolism will tell you that the digits/numbers that symbolize most, in their written form, the sexual organs, are 1 and 0, and that the first and most used and most basic number that have both these symbols together in the meaning of one thing is 10.
You can also see how strong the 10 is to the mind when you write in binary.
You see 10, you know you should read 2, but the mind still sees the 10 somehow.
> In other words, you are going to chop and change to fit your hypothesis.
Yes, I want to show my case as much as possible, and that's why it was a long post.
Both styles I showed are used by Billions of people these days. These are two forms of "writing the date" that are nowadays more in use than any other visual form or statement of the date, considering all possible dates in all the calendars ever invented.
> Please explain why, because as far as I can see, it currently is a coincidence.
This strengthens my theory because my theory says that a 9/11 combo in dates might hold more potential for destruction than a date without such a combo. In contrast, even if the changes in so-called-potential are usually small, destruction is not so common. Eventually, it happens more on such dates.
If this is true, then since the 20th century has most such combos in it, it should also have many many dates of destruction, according to my theory.
Since the 20th century has more destructions and more such-combos than ever before and with nothing like this in until 9100, it shows the validity of some possible-predictions coming out of my theory, which strengthens it.
>Wow, I'm convinced, after all, that are the chances of 11 and 9 coming together so often in the 20th century(1901-2000). Just imagine September ever, January, all of 1911, you might get the gist.
Yes, some dates are more convincing than others.
Every year of the 20th century had more 9/11 combos than expected to us in 2009 and 2011.
As far as combos go, if you count them with the standards I applied, those years shouldn't be any more "destruction" than the average 20th century year. (less than the minimum for a 20th century year, in both 2009 and 2011, if counting goes as I applied.)
You might object to me using the 20th century as my source for such dates, and I can't say, "what can I do? That's most of the destructions" because you can say, "Suppose 2456 will be a year with a destruction every day, would that make its digits more dangerous? No, only afterwards you could say that in statistical analysis. Every time humanity advances, it causes more destructions and whatever time of modern-most-destruction is the now, its frequent numbers, are those you would say are destruction-causing".
And this would be quite true if I showed you only such dates, in the last major-destruction-period, but I showed you more.
The 9/11 of the Hebrew calendar is the official destruction day, and most destructions attributed to it are not in the 20th century, even if it includes the WW1 date, as I showed.
This is not seeing 9 and 11 in many ways as I did in the western calendar (using two styles of writing and looking for "1.1"'s)
This is always the same day, always 9 in the days, always in the same month, not even switching between 9.11 and 11.9 in the year, considered as the formal destruction day of the year, and like the 9/11 combo which became a part of language after an obvious appearance in a destruction date, so does the Hebrew 9/11.
I don't know if in America people can say "you have a nine-eleven face", but in Hebrew, you can say that, and it means you look as if something bad happened to you, "why do you have a ninth of AV face"?
(Hebrew rarely calls the months of the Hebrew year with numbers, and nowadays, only with names, including when writing, although it's the 11th month of the 12 months year)
Not only do we see so many destructions, or formally-considered-destructions on 9-11 combos, in more than one ancient and still in use calenders - In both cases, after the combo itself, as it appears in the written date, was in a big enough destruction date, it eventually became a part of the language, by people using both calendars.
(In fact, most destructions are given other names than the date, always with a less clear connection to the 9/11-combo)
A 9/11 combo doesn't only appear in the 20th century and 9.11.2001. It also appears in the Hebrew calendar as the formal destruction date, and the combo itself, without a year, in language, is an understood symbol of destruction, again, in English and Hebrew, and maybe the 9/11 is also quite understood as a metaphor in language nowadays, for many European-Languages-Speakers.
As symbols, 9-11 combos, as they appear in language, are accepted concepts of destruction, in a conscious way, and accepted-enough-in-language and even part of the language.
Americans also associate "something bad is happening" with dialling 911.
Could it be that this is somehow a symbol of destruction anyways, just recently becoming a conscious symbol?
If so, it could have aided destruction, being an unconscious symbol of it.
>> Grasping at straws, are we?
Yes, I have to draw the line somewhere.
I didn't examine all dates and all possible combos one by one, did I?
I believe I showed a big enough case of my claim, showing the combo's appearance, in so many dates of destruction, in language, and more than one ancient-and-still-in-use-calenders.
If this is my claim, and this is what you want to contradict, you can only do this by showing me another combo with such an impressive manifestation in destruction dates and symbols. If you want to show it with your combo, you should match, or top, my standards more than I did.
Maybe it's not about combos. Maybe it's about astrology.
I was hoping you could give me an astrological phenomenon that appears in so many dates of destruction.
Give me another characteristic of the time that is evident in destruction dates, or destruction concepts, or even not-limited-to-one-calender and is connected to destruction, and you can argue with this.
It's understood if more bad stuff happens in the summer than in the winter, maybe the climate is like that, maybe people are more aggressive in the heat, but besides this, what other dates-stuff can have any effect on destruction?
If this is just a coincidence, after all, one combo must have appeared the most anyway. Give me a combo that appears somehow close to this one to show that this is just a coincidence.
You can even go for combos of 1 digit numbers if you like if no 1-3 are involved (4,5,6,7,8 are just as common as 9 and are more common than 11, if only in the days)
> not in the 20th century it isn't.
I can answer this in two ways.
1. The 20th century itself is a 9/11 combo abnormality.
2. If you don't accept that, check out the dates of destruction in the century.
Not all dates of the century contain a combo.
Most don't
Yes, All of JAN, and all of NOV, and every 1st, 11th, 21st and 31st of each
month.
Still not most of the days in most of the years.
Now calculate how many dates in the century are with a combo and how much is without.
Now calculate how many destruction dates are on dates with a combo and how much are on other dates.
Compare both ratios.
If the second ratio is bigger than the first ratio, my claim applies to the 20th century.
Since I found a quick combo in most dates of destruction of the 20th, knowing that most dates don't contain combo, it was enough for me to see how this applies in the 20th century.
I was hoping you could show me that destructions in the 20th spread in dates, without any distinct tendency to appear more on such dates or show me another combo that is really behind the scenes here, and this will disprove my claim.
If you do this, please remember that some destructions are worse than others, and some 9.11 combos are more "pure" for the mind than others, so this is not such an easy task.
I think I showed that most major destructions of the 20th century are in 9.11 combo dates (as well as in 2001). Since most dates in the 20th century actually don't contain a 9/11 combo, this abnormality should be quite obvious for the reader.
>Okay, let us deal with this more rationally.
One this is pandering to coincidence and what is known as the Law of huge numbers.
>>
I know the law of large numbers.
Someone showed me that most of the dates I gave were on only 3 days of the week.
I told him that from a list of 8 dates that he checked, he shouldn't have expected a 7 days spread anyway. And to show something strange, he needs a bigger list of dates, and that it is understood much more easily why a Monday is not a Friday, or, at least, more understood than why the 11th of the month is not the 14th, as far as personal feelings go, especially if the month doesn't go by the moon.
> Secondly, by using statistics on specific numbers, you can find any "evidence" you wish for any number you feel particularly paranoid about. The most famous being the number 13
There are many ways to do your statistics.
It's not all about finding what you imagine, even if it is how it starts when you want to prove what you think is not an imagination.
Looking at an infinite place (big enough for the mind), you can see everything you look for. You'll find 8's endlessly if there are so many of them.
But this is not what I do here.
Yes, I have enough available data to see some more clearly, but I didn't just find enough to convince me it's a rule, I looked and checked for the biggest destructions first, and I checked many of them.
I give some murder dates that might seem lame, but a murder date can become a national day of destruction, and all the dates I gave are such.
If it's all because of Big Numbers than anyone can meet my challenge,
If there are many destruction dates on an 8/12 combo, you can easily make a bigger list than mine.
If the numbers are big enough, you have many dates of destruction on any such-combo, and you can easily give me a list, my size or longer, with dates of destruction based on another combo or rule or other distinct time-date-pattern.
> Thirdly, if you think that a number or combination of numbers is bad luck, then you will put any number of what may be the everyday occurrence of bad luck down to that number because it happened on that day. If it had happened on any other day, then you wouldn't have put it down to the unlucky or lucky number. It just happened.
Yes, exactly.
And enough people are doing it.
And what is becoming, in the end, and accepted reference in language to destruction?
Only those numbers that enough people could convince themselves and others that might be like that.
And eventually, nowadays, in Hebrew and English, only one thing that people saw and gave a potential meaning is an accepted concept of destruction in language.
Only numbers that match your previous assumption of time and destruction can accumulate to a belief in the pattern. We eventually got most destruction on 9-11 combos from all the possible such patterns than in any other. We got the combo itself to mean destruction in language, more than any other combo.
It would help if you considered the possibility that both you and I are correct here:
If 9/11 is a subconscious symbol of destruction on the collective scale
And
If people look for patterns they thought might mean something and tell others, even while ignoring other data while doing it.
Then
Since the 9/11 combo is the most with symbolic-destruction from all such combos for the collective unconscious, it is the one thing people are noticing most and trying to tell others about, more than other such-combos which they encounter less, collectively, which eventually cause this combo to mean destruction in the most accepted way it can result in language or different languages.
>Forthly: and possibly the most important, cite research (preferably peer-reviewed), sources, links( again to objective sites, not numerology sites and the such), and maybe we might take it a bit more seriously.[/QUOTE]
I don't need to cite sources. All ideas are mine or easily verified.
Do you want to check one of my destruction dates? Looking them up to take no time. I don't believe I need to show how I know when WW2 started for you to take me seriously.
All the Hebrew stuff about the Hebrew calendar and its formal destruction date might appear like some "Mayan listing from an unknown source", but I guess a little trust is needed to believe that this is not controversial in Hebrew narratives.
Every ninth of AV, religious Jews mourn their destruction and fast, don't wash, and read religious bible texts describing their Temple's destruction.
The concept is understood in a language.
Not all know WW1 happened on this date, but this is also easily verifiable.
The expulsion from Spain is the only one considered truly documented
(I had a typo, stating 1942 instead of 1492 as the year)
The Italian, French, and English problems of Jews mentioned there are more controversial. Still, since these ideas are common enough and are others', not mine, it simply shows me how the human mind tends to connect that combo with destruction eventually.
I wish I could have some sites to refer to.
I don't know of any such attitude towards the subject, that is not Numerology, except for mine, so far, and I'd be more than glad to hear about it.
To Ray:
This is not what I do. I don't use math calculation almost at all.
I define the length of my "Mathematical Acrobatics" quite clearly.
Only looking at the most used writing styles of the most used calendar, and sometimes looking at 1.1 as an 11.
This is about it.
And the standard is well defined for anyone who might want to challenge me with another possible combo.
You don't accept the fact I use both dd. Mm and mm. dd? Fine, show me a combo that appears on only one of the styles more than mine on the same style.
Maybe your combo is 8 and 13, and you count both 13 and 31 and 3.1 and 1.3 to find it, show me.
You say that if we look at the long list of disasters in history, we'll probably don't find any 9/11 abnormality in the dates.
I think you are correct.
I make the distinction between destruction and disaster.
A natural disaster of nature shouldn't be affected by dates if dates only affect people.
Of course that a disaster is destruction, but all the dates of destruction I mentioned are all human-created,
I don't believe date-numbers affect nature.
They are based on calendars based on nature (day, month and year are originally observed cycles of the sun and the moon), but they don't affect nature. They affect people, and they cause them, sometimes, to feel something.
To Glenski:
There are many theories about 2012 going on globally and on the net for several years now. I seek both to understand the change in 2012, and the 2012 obsession, as it manifests. A lot of these 2012 theories talk about a change, a change in time, they talk about how time affects us, how calendar effects, many are talking about Mayan Calenders, and right now probably any spiritual idea has also found itself somehow in at least one 2012 theory unless it's a clear idea about 2016 or something like that.
Never before, even in 2000, such a global obsession from a date took place, and it's going on for quite some time, while most of what's going on are connected to one date in 2012 eventually.
you can see 2012 on Wikipedia for some general knowledge of where to find more data of this interests you
I seek to explain both the actual change in 2012, as far as time goes, and I also seek to explain why there's so much time-dates-obsession in this period in time. Some of the answers I get can explain some directions of thought in such theories, who say stuff like time will move differently or that the western calendar is bad for us. I compare how our attitude to time might change and the effect of the western calendar change.
About which calender I go by, I always go with the most used one.
When you enter a Wikipedia page about someone and see his birthday there in the Western Calendar, you see the date from the calendar I'm looking at. The Gregorian.
If different calenders were more spread at different times, I'd like to see if the 9/11 combo affected accordingly, but I doubt we have enough such data for worthwhile research.
To Tsuyoiko:
Sorry if I was misleading. I didn't mean to.
To: Derfel:
I think you meant
"It has as much to do with truth as WITH the London Olympic."
otherwise, I understand you as saying the Olympics has no truth.
I also can't entirely agree. I think my article explains both the so-called-expected change and the obsession about it more than any other 2012 theory.
To Chidoriashi and Half-n-half:
I also like Southpark.
I don't do anything close to what they do in that chapter
Not even close
But do you know who is much closer than me?
Many 2012 Numerologists and Astrologers, and many 9.11.2001 conspiracy theorists.
This is the time people look for meaning in dates more than ever.
My theory seeks to explain that, not to do that.
And again,
The only thing close to numerology that I do is suggesting the 10 is something the mind usually likes, and that may be anything that symbolizes "not ten, even It made you think of ten" is something the mind doesn't like.
I try to show why this could be because it's interesting to me, but this is not my proof. I show my case with statistics, not with applying meaning to numbers. And I don't use any such acrobatics as Numerologist do, which always seems to us mathematicians, as taking mathematics the lowest it could go.
I can still study why other people are doing more numerology now than at other times, and this kind of study can still be scientific.
The examples you gave showed me several things:
So much interest in 9.11.2001 with the date's analysis.
More than any other destruction day before.
Why does the example you showed only look for meaning in the 9 and 11 and not in 2001?
Why is the human mind so affected by this combination of numbers?
Why do people do Numerology nowadays so much around a 9/11 combo?
My theory explains all that to some extent.

Learn to use the quote system, it makes your posts easier to read

I am not going to go through the posts, as it seems to be an almost repeat of your first one, and answer your points. What I do want, and requested, was research from a credible source, links and sources. Until I see anything resmebling any of this I will continue to view this as superstitious nonsense along with astrology and other such pseudo-sciences.

I know to use quotes, but i didn't want to double-quote both of us each question to make it shorter, maybe I should have thought about it more.
It might seem like repetition, but I try to explain myself to you as much as possible, according to each of the point you raised, elaborating and expanding. I was initially upset about you saying you'll not read it, but I guess that replying you helped me more, more than you anyway, to understand more, and to explain myself better, and to continue my exploration and expression in the subject in a way that will address most questions raised. I do feel that if you read them you'll understand more, but this is up to you of course, do what you will.
I also addressed the question of links and sources in my reply.
As well as again saying that I do appreciate anything that can make it more based and more scientific.
You say that this is superstitious nonsense which seem to you like astrology and other wanna-be-sciences, but a study of astrology is not astrology and a study of pseudo-science in not necessarily pseudo-science, and numerology is attributing "spiritual" meaning to numbers, but study of how people are affected by their collective attributes, is not Numerology.
Thanks for your questions anyway. From all forums I posted this in, this one was the one with most replies, and with no "you got it wrong, 2012 is all about...." replies.
This kinda puts me in the middle. In some 2012 forums, I'm the scientific guy who gets it wrong, and here I'm the one accused of doing what I accuse others of doing....
I guess this is more about bias than about what I'm actually doing, but still, unlike other scientific handling of 2012 theories, who usually discard them in no time, I'm glad I got some interesting remarks here.

Blue Monkey,
You didn't even answer my post. You gave some long-winded reply which didn't answer the simple question.

What is the point of your thread? You claim some "theories" about the year 2012 exist.

Cite them with references to support them, or else you are going to be called a troll.

I was going to debunk the whole argument, but about 2,000 words in I couldn't bare to read anymore of this. It's just a stringing together of numbers that seem to be related. The whole argument is based on nothing of merit.

It was also agitating to read the title. What gives you the right to think you know the truth about something that can only be speculated upon? On top of that I come to find that in the topic it's a bunch of crap. You can try and tie anything together with pseudo-logic. I went to four classes today in three different buildings and it is currently 8:34. So therefore 8 must have a significant meaning, right? Come on I've heard much more believable theories.

My astrologist says numerology is bunk.
Just because his theory is based on numbers doesn't make it numerology. It's nothing of the sort.

it's impossible to end the world by this way ......
the world'll finish only in doomsday's marks like appearance of Dajjal and Isa and other
marks .... and all astrologist in numerology can't know the day exactly when the world will end .. maybe now or tomorrow or 10 year or 1000year ....
no one knows

To Glenski:
I'm not claiming anything controversial here, 2012 is the most obsessed-about-year in the NEW AGE world, in a distinct fashion all over the world. You can check 2012 in wikipedia.

To Drew-San:
The title is not about everything that is going to happen in 2012, but about the truth of the 2012 obsession.

To everyone:
We can explain all the phenomenon using Pareidolia:
pareidolia is "clinically defined" as looking for patterns and seeing patterns where none exist, like faces in the rain, and animals in the clouds, and so forth.
we can also define it in terms of numbers, without the "clinical" consideration, considering the option that some meaning might be there after all:
Number-pareidolia, is about looking for such patterns in numbers.
Dates-Number-pareidolia is about such patterns in numbers of dates.
Numerology is about giving numbers a meaning which is not a mathematical meaning.
(compare "4 means love" to "4 is not prime", both can be seen as result of basic number-pareidolia processes)

Now let's look at the 9/11 and 2012 obsessions with these definitions:
Let's think about this like this:
It is Pareidolia.
All over the world people try to find their number connections using pareidolia, some more, some less, some always, some never.
If humans associate destruction with numbers only using pareidolia, after a few thousand years, you can have two options:
1. If some numbers are indeed more connected to destruction for the mind, globally, they will appear in more cases of pareidolia. If those numbers are not connected to a specific language, they will appear in more cases of pareidolia in different cultures with different language and with different calenders.
2. If all numbers are equally subject to pareidolia as far as destruction goes,
people will find it hard to agree on any set of numbers.

Now, what does the process of pareidolia want to accomplish ?
It wants to give a symbolic meaning to a number.
Let's look at a peridoliac person from the outside.
He tells you "4's makes me love things, 4 is all about love for me, all the girls I loved had so much 4's in their names and lives" and so on.
He says: 4 symbolizes love. (and he can add: to me, to you, to everyone, to our people, to men, for now at least, and so on, while the common to all saying, is giving a symbolic meaning to a number, which is not a mathematical meaning).
All over the world, all cases of pareidolia, are trying to do that.
Now, if a 9/11 combo somehow means destruction for enough people.
(This could be very subtle, even if out of 100 cases, only 5 are 9/11 combos, if it's the most common combo in the list, it's the one with the most accumulating affect, over thousands of years)
what will happen with a "natural" process of pareidolia ?
The symbol will be more accepted as a symbol of destruction.
Right now, the 9/11 concept is a symbol of destruction in the language, and in more than one calender.
From all possible pariedolia going on, that's the one that convinced most people to see some symbolic connection, consciously, between a 9/11 combo in the year, and with destruction.
Nobody forces you to fear the combo, or to look for it, or any other pareidolic activity, but it forces you to see what is the accepted meaning of the combo in language, if you wish to understand language like others.
How does this match the nowadays ?
Why is from all dates of destruction only the 9.11 is remembered with the date, and with the combo ? why is there so much pareidolia about it than ever before ? why can't we explain the 2012 obsessions saying that in this period of time, dates are more charming than ever which causes a specific stream of pareidolia, if we can somehow define charm ?

About theories that claim that the ending of the Mayan calender signifies the End of something in Nature:

As far as I know, the Mayan calender, or, more correctly, the different versions of the different Mayan calenders, don't state in the calender the end of the world, they simply end.
If you use a circular counting system, (unlike the christian counting which could go on forever mathematically, but like the Hebrew one), your calender ends sometime.
It's usually a long cycle, always long enough in history for "never ending while the culture using it is still a living culture"
Even if it's not a circular calender, it can use cycles, like any other calender.
In the normal count, the dates' digits are circular, and so are the months', only the years go in a linear way.
If I create a practical Christan calender for the next 1000 years, it will end sometime (in a 1000 years), because I only used a cycle of a 1000 years, which I could use again and again as the same calender, for the next 1000 years, I just didn't see a reason to put more than 3 digits in the year.
When we reach 10000, if we still use this counting, we could go in 2 directions:
Either starting to use 5-digits years, which will change the calender in the practical sense (think of computers all regarding years with 4 digits)
or we will simply ignore the initial 1, and keep writing (and talking) about a 4 digit concept, with all of us in perfect understanding, without a sense of change of calender (as might happen it we start thinking about years as a 5-digit-thing). If we go that road, we actually just start the counting all over again from 0 to 9999, actually making the christian counting a circular one which completed a cycle, and we start using it from the beginning again (without forgetting of course that it's the 2nd cycle)
Maybe the Mayan calender(s) is also something like that.
We can Imagine it if we think of it as an "extended-year-calender".
Most use, for practical reasons, a calender for the year alone.
It's a calender that ends, and you use it again (quite the same version), again and again, whenever it ends.
Maybe this is how the Mayan calender goes, it just doesn't end on the year, but on the far far future, in a way that doesn't really frighten anyone, any more than the fears you might feel when the year's calender is over.
Actually, all the possible psychological fears of "the year is changing, the end of the calender seems like some kind of an end to me", will not happen in a Mayan calender, where the symbolic emphasis of the End, is in the far far future, not in every year.
Maybe this is the price to be paid
The Mayans perhaps fear less when the year is over, because they have a very different understanding of "when time/calender ends", so they don't have to celebrate the changing of each year with Light and Trees and Family-Love and other versions of Christmas, which potentially decrease the global "fear", but on the other hand, when their calender finally ends, all accumulated fears of the End, are all focused at a one ending point.
And maybe some kind of Ritual, is finally needed.

(If Christmas is when Christian celebrate the birth of Christ on their version of the main ritual which is connected to the the year changing / ending in the calender, then what is the analogy now that the Mayan's ending ? do we need a bigger celebration in this bigger End ? Could this explain some more-Christ-Is-Coming beliefs-?
This doesn't have to be because the Mayan calender ends.
As I showed, the Christian counting is the one changing in 2012 in its affect. This is a kind of End in the Christian calender itself. So should we be more anxious for redemption, more believing that now is the time of his coming to the world, or should we all just try to have the most appropriate Christmas-Celebration-Analogy ?

it's impossible to end the world by this way ......
the world'll finish only in doomsday's marks like appearance of Dajjal and Isa and other
marks .... and all astrologist in numerology can't know the day exactly when the world will end .. maybe now or tomorrow or 10 year or 1000year ....
no one knows
Great, Islamic apocalyptical views. I'll file that one along with christian, jewish, norse, hindu, etc. ones. Why are religions obsessed with the end of the world? Anyway this is not the point of the thread, so remian ontopic, for what it is worth.

Blue Monkey,
You didn't even answer my post. You gave some long-winded reply which didn't answer the simple question.

What is the point of your thread? You claim some "theories" about the year 2012 exist.

Cite them with references to support them, or else you are going to be called a troll.
I've asked twice so far, and none are forthcoming. If the next reply is more number cruching data the member will be treated as such and the thread locked. BLUEELECTRICMONKEY take that as a warning.

So in other words you have posted overly long threads with no apparent reason over Pareidolia. That these posts serve no purpose at all and the number relationships have no meaning, only patterns that people who suffer from pareidolia would worry about. Why didn't you start with that in the first place rather than all this blah, blah, numbers, blah, blah?

Ok Ok Ok
I'll do that now.
You've asked me so many questions, and I gave you so specfic replies, and you're accusing me of not answering one of them, twice, to you satisfaction.
Something like this has never happened to me before...
The more I answer you with respect and in detail, the more you find what's wrong with my ideas, and you even threaten to lock my thread and make me a troll (???)
You ignore my answers or skips them, and accuse me of ignoring you ? I've never ignored anyone less in my internet history. Really.
But then I saw you're the moderator.
You might be happy to hear that I answered all your questions without noticing that.
About 2012 theories.
This is mainly in New Age, Internet Sub Culture, and World-Travelers circles.
This is the main New Age phenomenon of our time, quite global, and with a very intense focusing on 21.12.2012.
Most of this theories talk about the Mayan Calender ending in 2012, and incorporate so many strange ideas in themselves, relating to that.
You can see some 2012 data and some 2012 theories in the following links:

Sorry, the forum software says I can post links because I don't have enough posts yet, I think.
So you can see them in:
wikipedia 2012
or google:
2012 theories
2012 mayan theories
12.21.2012 theories

I did start with this. My first claim. That numbers affect people.
As we develop the theory more and more with needed-feedback, we can elaborate more on the reasons.
And again,
The reason for "why people associate 9/11 combos with destruction" was not needed for my initial claims, I showed that they do do it, statistically, and in language.
Don't mix pareidolia with study of pareidolia.
And if you do mix those concepts anyway, you might be still surprised when pareidolia studies itself.
I suggest you do read all my specific answers, I may seem stretching at times, but all my major points are usually in the end of whatever I say.
