"a fan of yours" or "a fan of you," which should we choose?

1. I'm a fan of yours
2. I'm a fan of you

If "you" refers to JJ, which does each mean?
X. I like JJ.
Y. JJ likes me.

I don't think "a fan of you" is even grammaticaly right, but I'm not native english speaker, so don't take my word for it



I would however use phrase "a fan of yours" [I'm a big fan of yours!] or maybe "your fan" [I'm your big fan!]. I think the meaning is quite the same.

I'd say X -> I like JJ -> You'd say to him/her: "I'm fan of yours!"


Maybe someone else will share their oppinion, I'm not all that sure I'm 100% right

"I'm a fan of yours" does sound right - it would sound funny to say "I'm a fan of you".

You can also say "I'm your fan". But that is more direct, and IMO less polite than "I'm a fan" or "I'm a fan of you". I'm a fan of yours could work, if they have more than one fan.

I think it would be "I'm a fan of Michael Jackson" (though I'm not!) or "I'm Michael Jackson's fan".
