Hello,

Can someone explain to me what 物事 and 事物 mean and how they differ, please? I think I know what 物事 means: "物と事 in an abstract sense", "thing". But I don't get 事物. In the dictionary it says さまざまな事柄や物。「事」に重点の置かれる「物事」に対して、「物」に重点が置かれる。, but I don't understand what this means in regards to the difference in meaning.

I've seen them before and I thought I had understood them, but I read this definition for 歴史 in the dictionary, and I realized I don't. (歴史:) ある事物・物事の現在まで進展・変化してきた過程。「菓子の―」「―のある店」

Maybe...I am not sure...Does it mean that 物事 puts the emphasis on "actions/matters/concepts" and 事物 on "objects/tangible things"?

But 物事 still includes 物("objects"), and 事物 still includes 事("actions/matters/concepts"), right?

EDIT: It might be a dumb question, considering they are both formed by those kanjis, but for some time now, I think I've wrongly understood that 物事 only refers to 事. I want to make sure I get it right this time.
