I need some help with my writing. Not things like on/kun, meanings, etc. I know all that. I just can't write them with any degree of beauty. I took a 書道 class in college and I'm decent with a brush, but with a pen or pencil it just looks like trash.

Are there places online I can look at native writing samples, look at rules to follow, etc? My かな look like garbage too, btw. I just want my 字 to look like they were written by someone who knows what they're doing.

practice makes perfect, buy even Japanese people have terrible penmanship sometimes. Just keep at it and try to emulate the writing that you think looks good.

Anyone know of good locations to view authentic Japanese handwriting?

Try searching for ペン字 (penji).

www1.neweb.ne.jp/wa/akiakane/pen/pen_f.htm has some good examples, kana and some kanji.
